Euphorbia supina Rafin , a one-year-living grass , growing in the field or wild, belongs to Euphorbiaceae. In the folk, It is used for anticancer, antibacterial, antiinframmatory, anti-parasite, antidote, anthemorrhagic etc. It was reported that the study of Euphorbia supina Rafin showed the composed of triterpenoid derivatives, monoterpene lactone, tannins, flavonoids, phenol etc and, biologically, was known that Euphorbia supina Rafin has the function of anticancer activation in in vitro.
In the present study, we investigated the immunomodulatory effects of hot water extract of Euphorbia supina Rafin based on the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL (interleukin)-1β, IL-6, as well as the cytotoxicity of peritoneal macrophages. We evaluated the release of IL-1β and IL-6 on LPS (lipopolysaccharide)-induced RAW 264.7 cell lines. The results indicated that the concentration of 1.0 and 5.0 ㎎/㎖ of Euphorbia supina Rafin showed a significant cytotoxicity. whereas the dose of 0.003-0.3 ㎎/㎖ increased the production of both IL-1β and IL-6.
