This study aims to compare and analyse the formal systems and contents of Korean language texts published in Korea and China, therefore to examine common points and differences between the texts used in the two countries. As Korean language education became activated in China In the 2000s, the varieties of Korean language texts available in China became diverse. While there are Korean language texts published both in Korea and China, there are yet to be sufficient studies carried out on the texts published in China and for comparison between texts published in Korea and China. In this study, I compared, therefore analyzed the total of 18 varieties of Korean language texts centering on speaking and conversation, such as 10 published in Korea and 8 in China. I firstly examined the basic concepts, functions and roles of Korean language texts that connected between the curricula and the learning processes. Also, I examined the forms and compositions of texts by comparing Korean language texts published in Korea and those in China. Then, by narrowing down the scope of examination, I looked at the concepts and types of syllabuses in relation to the contents of education, therefore analyzed the texts according to their types. The result of analysis indicated that, among texts published in Korea, the combined syllabus type was dominant of which single syllabuses were appropriately mixed. On the other hand, texts published in China displayed the tendency of both single syllabuses and combined syllabuses used in mixture. In addition, I examined the concept of each unit, how the units were constituted per text and the functions played by the constituting elements. For this, I conducted comparative analysis of texts published in Korea and China by focusing on 'titles, subjects and introductions', the constituting elements of a unit that were of inseparable relations. In terms of the method of marking titles, the method of marking titles only in Korean and the method of marking titles by using both Korean and foreign languages in the form of a sentence were used in the texts published in Korea. On the other hand, the method of making titles with both Korean and foreign languages in the form of words, phrases and sentences was frequently used in the texts published in China. As for the subjects of each unit, I set 58 subjects by centering on the subjects implied in their respective titles, therefore categorized them accordingly. The result is as follows. 9 subjects were of the top 20% in the texts published in Korea. These were 'greetings (asking about a person's health, parting words), introduction, shopping, transportations・using transportations, location, food・making an order, making an appointment, weekends and weather・seasons'. On the other hand, only 7 subjects were of the high percentage of top 20% in the texts published in China. These were 'food・making an order, making a phone call, greetings (to ask about a person's health, parting words), introduction, shopping, health・medical institutes and post office・sending a mail'. Although the overall count of units was higher in the texts published in China, the texts published in Korea had more of the common subjects in the top 20%. Considering that the 4 subjects of 'greetings, introduction, shopping and food・making an order' were included in both of the texts published in Korea and China, these are considered the subjects essential for beginners of Korean language study. In terms of the introduction to a unit, the tool of introduction was employed in most of the texts published in Korea, while it was used only in 50% of the texts published in China. In summary, Korean language texts published in Korea were found to be better in terms of the formal system and also to be more outstanding in terms of the quality than the texts published in China.
