The purpose of this study is to provide basic data which will be used in establishing effective marketing strategy for sports supply manufacturers and helping them develop and improve swimming supplies that meet the characteristics of consumers by investigating what effects brand images have on product evaluation standard and how the brand image become the conclusive factor in selection of products after exploring the effects of consumers' brand awareness toward swimming supplies on purchase behavior. And on the other hand, this study is designed to activate the swimming supply markets along with industrial development of swimming supplies by providing consumers with information for resonable choice of products. In order to achieve the study goal, the regular members, who were participating in swimming club at one sports center located in each area including Seoul, Busan, Ulsan City and Gyeonggi Province during the period from August 1, 2009 to August 30, 2009, were established as the population. And a total of 400 adult males and females were selected for sampling by using the systematic stratified cluster random sample method. Among the questionnaires, the total of 305 questionnaire were selected as valid sample after excluding 95 questionnaires which contained package-type responses or were regarded as low in authenticity. The results of data processing, which was carried out through the reliability analysis, frequency analysis, t-test, One-way ANOVA and Multiple regression analysis by using the SPSS/PC 14.0 Version for Window, are as follows. First, the swimming supplies purchase behavior based on the demographic characteristics showed meaningful difference in the degree of product satisfaction and recommendation intention, which is the sub-factor of purchase activities in residential areas only. Second, the brand awareness toward swimming supplies based on the demographic characteristics did not show meaningful statistic difference according to ages, prize winning history and participation in competition, but it showed meaningful statistic difference in the gender, family income, educational background, swimming career and residential areas. Third, the results showed that the higher brand awareness toward swimming supplies consumers had, the more immediate influence it had on purchase activities. And especially, the sub-factors, such as the degree of interest, preference and memory about the brand, appeared to have a bigger influence on purchase activities. Fourth, as for the relationship between the degree of purchase satisfaction and purchase behavior, the product, design and price satisfaction had effects on purchase behavior in order, based on the recommendation and repurchase intention, which are the sub-factors of purchase behavior. According to the integrated conclusions, the difference in brand awareness toward swimming supplies based on the demographic characteristics showed meaningful statistic difference in the gender, family income, educational background, swimming career and residential areas. And in the purchase activities and brand awareness toward swimming supplies based on the demographic characteristics, only the residential areas appeared to have statistically meaningful difference in common. The results showed that the higher brand awareness toward swimming supplies consumers had, the more immediate influence it had on purchase behavior. And the sub-factors, such as the degree of interest, preference and memory about the brand, appeared to have the biggest effects on consumers' purchase behavior. The satisfaction in the product, design and price appeared to have effects on the degree of purchase satisfaction.
