This thesis consists mainly of studying internal emotions represented by my daily life in art and various daily experiences and my emotion representation expressed by objects in my memory, through the images shown in my works which were exhibited at under the theme of 'Memory's 'Melody'. Art history shows how ephemeral general conception of objects is. T.W Adorno (1903~1969) says 'Emotion towards art is an emotion seeking after art itself'.f As emotion seeks after art itself, it is an emotion which is not a general reaction of any side, but an emotion which is conjured up, for example, one which makes you a hero/heroine or another person. Therefore, through art, I become a hero/heroine in my memory by getting separated from time and space and then objectified and generalized. That is where my recognition kicks off. I have treated as objects for representation daily lives I have felt, a certain space out of memories of those lives or a certain emotion phenomenon taking place in my mind through objects. I wondered if I could add flexible interpretations to the real outside appearance of realities. Like a great number of ideas are passing through our brain at each and every moment, my own ideas and emotions for each and every moment are contained in my screen. Within the relations with such object images, we exist in a moment when my own ideas stay and my own impressions are engraved transcending our daily restrictions and tensions, no matter how momentary they are. Oppressed conception for in-depth contemplation and a single light idea flitting across us, each lingering memory of them become I and its objects. When such things happen, it doesn't matter whether they are in harmonious with original images of objects. As I reflected over my daily life, I toured the places where I frequently went and which I liked. Each and every place and objects are felt in my mind as if they were different from each other whenever I went there, not merely their dictionary meaning. When I always saw something different, I asked myself 'Who am I? Who are you? Do what I am differ from what I used to be?' That is why I have sought to express a certain space in my memory, getting out of the form of any object or its stereotype conception. Through paintings, I looked back over my bygone days, and tried to convey the complexities and intensities of my memory mental pictures by overlapping the forms of various ideas and feelings in my memory with speedy lines as I thought about feeling at that time or expressing them in a transformed way. But if I see them from another angle, I excluded light and shade because my art is a line-oriented work and it is designed to convey flitting feelings, not the expression of object property, so they can be seen as a reconstruction driven by the disintegration and simplification of objects through my own personal vision. If the mindset is excessively slanted towards author's personal tastes, it could be so much difficult for others to have meanings and interests to that extent, and also inadvertently look monotonous. If take a glimpse at my paintings, they may look like unfettered lines and a disorderly array of objects, which represents my joyful feelings when I worked on them. They are filled with my flitting emotions at each moment, which I think can cause those who look at them to conjure many ideas up. As everyone has their own unique and distinctive ideas, memories that popped up with regard to any object cannot be concluded with a single answer, I believe. In the course of painting, memory is intermittent and irregular. The works which I finished with rapidity will lead you to different reactions whenever you look at them as they are tinged with certain emotions. That is the reason why I create them complicated enough for you to clearly recognize their forms. I hope that my works will act as an intermediary or a stimulant for the change of emotions so that a variety of memories and imaginations can take place to appreciators. Accordingly, this thesis studies how emotions are expressed focusing on the images and objects of many spaces you can come across in your ordinary daily life and memories which were created within in my memories after checking out the understanding of daily life and the daily life through memory in art. In addition, I described how to configurate and express the traces inherent in objects from my own vision.
