The purpose of this study was to analyze the changes of foot pressure by various carrying a pack methods during walking. The subjects were consisted of normal seventeen persons. They were from 20 to 30 years old and the mean age was 21.8 The carrying a pack methods were classified into five conditions: Carrying low load backpack(carrying 1), carrying a left-hand bag(carrying 2), carrying a right-hand bag(carrying 3), carrying a front bag(carrying 4), carrying a high load back(carrying 5). All subjects were participated in these five condition and measure the foot pressure by Gaitview-Pro system during walking. To evaluate foot pressure the foot was divided into 8areas: hallux, 2nd-5th Phalanges, 1st Metatarsale, 2nd-4th Metatarsale, 5th Metatarsale, Midfoot, Medial Calcaneus, Lateral Calcaneus. The contact time, foot contact area were measured and analyzed. The repeated one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) was used to get difference between conditions and independent t-test was used to get difference between left and right foot within condition. The conclusions were as follows; 1) According to the backpack-carrying method, there are no significant differences in partial foot pressure of hallux, 5th Metatarsale and Medial Calcaneus, Lateral Calcaneus. The most efficient walk is made by carrying a backpack backwards using two scraps. 2) According to the backpack-carrying method, there are no significant differences in contact time of initial Contact time, Propulsion time and total contact time of Calcaneus gets shorter when carrying a backpack with one hand. It shows that local impact of feet becomes higher and makes walk inefficient. 3 ) There are no significant differences in contact area of feet while walking because backpack-carrying method can not affect muscles and tendon, ligament that supports arch of feet. In conclusion, it appears that unilateral weight load way toward the left raises local impact of foot is increase more than other conditions. This causes repetitive and over pressure to foot area that foot ulcer and pain could be produced. So two scrape ideal backpack carrying method is highly recommended for foot health.
