The destruction of ecosystems by industrialization has become a threat to human life. Acknowledging the seriousness of this problem, many poets started to write poems about ecological problems. In addition, research on Korean ecological poetry has been conducted. This paper examines the patterns of Korean ecological poetry. This study will introduce a poem by Ji Ha Kim, who has made an enormous contribution to ecological poetry since the 1980s. It will introduce Sin Yong Kim and Hyeong Joon Park's poetry in order to present the diversity of ecological poetry in the twenty‐first century. There are two types of Korean ecological poetry: 1) poems that express criticism of industrialization; 2) lyric poetry that describe co‐existence and symbiosis. The reason for categorizing lyric separately is that most ecological poems written after the mid 1990s are lyric poetry; thus, it is worthwhile to research it. A good example of poetry that criticizes industrialization is Plant Zone by Seong Ho Choi. In the morning, Old pine, and Fast love can represent the second category. The poets talk about birth, death and new life. And I analyze Poetry that addresses co-prosperity. The order of these poems presents not only the results of one’s contemplation on the way of co‐prosperity, but also is how well‐known poet, Dong Hoon Lee, developed his research on the third category of ecological poetry. The ecosystem is still in danger. Its condition will continue to deteriorate. In response, there will be great room for Korean ecological poetry to grow. Ecological poetry will find a way to discuss problems in a natural and yet highly artistic way, instead of excessively criticizing industrialism. In addition, poetry that is not intentionally focus on the environment will often become the best examples of ecological poetry.
