This research is to study the exposure dose of CT on infants. Recently, the researches for reduce the exposure dose on patients are actively on going with the rapid development of CT technology, and especially for the case of CT on infants, not many oversea and domestic hospitals but organizations researching on the exposure dose are trying to find the way to acquire the better video with the less radiation. CTDIvol and DLP of Brain, Chest, Abdomen test which being performed by currently The Catholic University of Korea Bucheon St. Mary's Hospital were examined and the test is done with SOMATOM Sensation 16 CT of Simens. Compare the values of CTDI and DLP provided by CT equipment and the measured value of exposure dose from the test. The object of research is also to get the reasonable condition through comparing those values with the suggested exposure dose of patients by government organizations. Currently, in our hospital use 120k of peak kilovoltage. For the Brain case, the average value of CTDIvol is 64.7mGy, and the average value of DLP is 1280.3mGy·cm. For the Chest case, the CTDIvol value is 2.5mGy and the average DLP value is 58mGy·cm, and for the Abdomen case, the CTDIvol value is 5.3mGy and the average DLP value is 250.6mGy·cm. As a result of the test, because the lower peak voltage makes the lower amount of the exposure dose, 80∼100kVp has to be selected for diagnosis. Under this circumstance, if we compare it with the standard amount of the exposure dose of Britain and Germany, it is 35∼61% for Brain, and 40∼68% for Chest, and it will be reached to 25∼62% for Abdomen. Therefore, the reasonable selection of peak voltage can play as the biggest role to reduce the exposure dose on infants. However, we can not ignore the bad quality of the video just for reducing the exposure dose, so that reasonable selection of peak voltage is required depending on the thickness of the ages of patients and the thickness of the diagnosis point. To find the reasonable peak voltage for the differential thickness of diagnosis points will be the subject of the future research, with this research.
