This study was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of weight management program for overweight and obesity of office workers. The subjects of this study included BMI 23 Kg/m2 over 40 Kg/m2 office workers(25 man, 14 women) in Jeonbuk area, and the educational period was 6 months. This study compare changes in the anthropometry, biochemistry, dietary habits, dietary behaviors, Alcohol drinking and smoking, nutrition knowledge, eating out, snack intake, exercise and nutrient intakes of office workers before, after the weight management program. The results are as follows : 1. The weight, BMI of the subjects decreased. Skeletal Muscle Mass(SMM), thought insignificant, increased. Body Fat Mass(BFM), Percent Body Fat(PBF) of the subjects decreased. Triceps Thickness(TT) of the male subjects were significantly difference between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). Waist circumference of the total subjects were significantly decreased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). also hip circumference of the total subjects were significantly decreased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). 2. The total cholestrol of the male subjects were significantly decreased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). T-bilirubin of the female subjects were significantly decreased(p<0.05). LDL-cholesterol of the total subjects were significantly decreased between before and after the weight manageme nt program(p<0.001). Abdominal CT change showed test, SFA(Subcustaneous Fat Area) of the male subjects were significantly decreased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.01). VSR(Visceral adipose tissue / Subcutaneous abdominal adipose tissue Ratio) of the male subjects were significantly increased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.01). 3. The dietary habits, eating out and snack intake, drinking and smoking of the total subjects were desirably changed. all the female subjects were not smoking. 4. The survey showed that the dietary habits, 'Time of meal' of the male subjects were significantly increased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.01).'Reason of miss breakfast', 'Meal of times', 'Speed of meal' and 'Volume of meal' of the total subjects were significantly changed between before and after the weight management program(p<0.01). 5. The survey showed that the exercise, 'Regular exercise' of the total subjects were significantly changed between before and after the weight management program(p<0.001). 'Exercise for diet' of the male and female subjects were significantly increased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.01). 6. The survey showed that the dietary behaviors, 'Overeat frequently' and 'Eat sugar meal everyday' of the male subjects were significantly increased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). 7. The survey showed that the nutrition knowledge, all kinds of question of the male subjects were significantly increased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). 'Fruits is good food, because not gain weight' of the total and male subjects were significantly increased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). and 'Steamed rice 1 bowl and 2 slice of bread has same calorie value' of the total and female subjects were significantly increased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). 8. The mean intakes of energy in office workers, Fe and Vit B2, Niacin of the female subjects were significantly increased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). In the results of NAR, Riboflavin and Fe of the female subjects were significantly increased between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). In the results of MAR, female subjects were significantly changed between before and after the weight management program(p<0.05). 9. The survey showed that the physical strength, on the whole of muscle, muscular endurance, flexibility measerements. muscular endurance were increased between before and after the weight management program. These results demonstrated that weight management program for overweight and obesity of office workers had positive change with regard to the anthropometry, biochemistry, improvement of athletic ability and nutrition knowledge, amount of intakes were decreased. It is suggested that implement nutrition education of dietitian and cooks for worker's promotion health. also linking the center of worker's health promotion project, community health centers, and work places, and various programs should be developed to maintain and continue changes in worker's behaviors, such that the positive effects of improvement in obesity could be maintained, even after the program.
