ABSTRACT Sexual Knowledge, Attitude and SexualBehavior of University students geun-hee, Woo Department of Nursing Graduate School of Kongju National University Gong Ju, Korea (Supervised by Professor Jeong-Seon, Ann) In the study, Knowledge and Attitude of University Students, the sexual status and gender of college students were correlated with their sexual attitudes and sexual experiences. The researched aimed to: (1) find out any association to sexual assault, (2) develop effective sex education materials and (3) provide basic data for an efficient design of a Sexuality Program. In the study, College Students' Knowledge, Attitude and Behavior (Hoseonmin, 2009), it used a 100-item questionnaire containing 33 questions on Sexual Knowledge, 35 questions on Sexual Attitude and 24 items on Sexual Behavior. The remaining 8 items were about demographic characteristics of the respondents. To get a 2010 data, a written consent was given to conduct a survey on 211 fourth year college students from South Chungcheong. The PASW WIN 18.0 program was used to analyze the data collected. The survey was conducted from September 30 to October 4. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Out of 118 respondents, 44.1 percent are male college students (n=93) and 55.9 percent are female. 47.9 percent of students had sexual experience (101 students). 2. Out of the 33 questions to measure the Sexual Knowledge of college students, an average of 25.0±8.54 points or 75.8 percent of the respondents has sexual knowledge. There was a high contrast, 7.77±1.75 points, with sex-related issues such as sexually transmitted diseases. However, with pregnancy and sexual health-related knowledge, the correlation was low with 5.65±2.45 points. The result was relatively neutral on playful sexual pleasures, premarital chastity tolerance, openness and tolerance for abortion and homosexuality. Tolerance for sexual abuse was low. 3. With regard to the sexual behavior of college students having 'consensual' sex, it showed that their first sexual activity at the University is primarily done under a 1-2 year period. It also showed that contraception is always used. The results also showed that a relationship with sexual activity "was better" for the respondents. 4. The gender of the respondents did not show any significant correlation on their knowledge and attitude towards sexual assaults. Male students are more open to sexual abuse according to the results (t=3.51, p=.001). Results (t=3.04, p=.003) also showed that boys are more allowed to show Sexual behavior. Age showed higher tendency to openness (F=3.26, p=.040), more low-grade sexual behaviors (t=2.27, p=.025) are allowed, while the respondents were not open to group sexual activities (t= 5.25, p #.001). 5. Results showed that Sexual Knowledge and Sexual Attitude has a high relationship (r=.266, p #.001). A study of university students with lower levels of sexual knowledge and sexual attitudes should be conducted. Based on the results of this study, the respondents preferred correct sexual knowledge and proper sexual attitudes and sexual behaviors. The results may serve as a basis in subsequent studies.
