The target group of Korean as a foreign language in Korea are non-Korean adults. On the other hand, the target group in foreign countries for learners of the Korean language are Korean residents abroad. Korean residents abroad are Korean immigrants, Koreans living in foreign countries or those who have Korean backgrounds but do not have Korean nationality.
The aim of this study is to provide an appropriate education plan to Korean residents abroad, especially for child learners between the ages of six and eleven. After this stage in development, the children will mature into adolescents, a stage in which their interests and abilities will develop further. By creating this plan, our goal would be to help promote the interests of the students and the necessity for them to learn the Korean language. The class activities will be developed around children's songs, which will increase the young learners interests, motivate learning, and help aid in learning Korean language and culture in a natural setting. By teaching the younger learners, we hope to promote their interest to learn Korean throughout their adolescence. Therefore, it is important not to expect the highest standards from the learners abroad, but to provide them with a Korean education focused on the particular interest so that learners continue to have the desire to approach and learn Korean. To do that, the education plan to learn Korean will be done by selecting children songs according to the learners ability and interest which will include necessary activities provided as supplementary materials.
The purpose of Korean language education for Korean residents abroad, especially in children, will help establish the learner's Korean identity, help learners communicate with their families in Korean, and to settle down in the country having bilingual abilities. Therefore, this study is focused on achieving an education plan based on the learners ages and abilities.
