This research is to look at syntax characteristics differences between school age ADHD children and normal children portrayed in written expressions by analyzing the number of total T-units, the number of average words per unit and accuracy of school age ADHD children and normal children after collecting writing data samples. The research objects were total of 30 students of 15 ADHD students and 15 normal students attending 2nd and 3rd years of primary schools. The researcher collected the samples by making them write a story showing a picture book with no word. The researcher looked at the differences between ADHD children and normal children by analyzing the number of total T-units, number of average words per unit and accuracy. The research results were as follows. First, in the total number of T-units of ADHD children and those of normal children, it was higher in the normal children than those of the ADHD children, and the number of total T-units had a meaningful difference between ADHD children and those of normal children. Second, in the number of words per T-unit for ADHD children and those of normal children, it was higher in the normal children than the ADHD children, and the number of words per T-unit showed a meaning difference between ADHD children and normal children. Third, although there was a meaningful difference between the two groups when analyzed the spelling error rate and ungrammatical error rate, there was no meaningful difference regarding the ungrammatical error rate. Both groups made the most mistakes in writing as it sounded in the spelling error type, and the ratio of spelling error by type showed in the order of similar levels. In the ungrammatical error type, ADHD children made the most mistakes in ‘errors related to response of sentence component’ and for normal children it the most in ‘errors of postposition usage’. From the result of analyzing the statistics of the two groups by comparing the spelling mistakes there was a meaningful difference in ‘write as it sounds’ and ‘write missing out the necessary syllable’, and there was no meaningful difference between the two groups in ‘replace to another syllable’ and ‘insert an unnecessary syllable’. There was a meaningful difference in the ‘error due to extremely long sentence’ from the result analyzed the ungrammatical sentence error of the two groups statistics by each type. However, there wasn’t a meaningful difference between the two groups in the ‘error of sentence component response’, ‘error caused by sentence component cancellation’, ‘error by using postposition’ and ‘error by using noun endings’. Through this research, I could discover that ADHD children use relatively short and simple expressions, use short sentences and use written expressions of consistentpatterns. The words used within a sentence or an overall written expression of ADHD children weren’t as diverse as normal and the number of words used were small. Additionally, I could figure out there was a difference in syntax characteristics with normal children as ADHD children showed characteristics of using extremely short sentences by cancelling necessary elements grammatically inappropriate, adding unnecessary parts or using extremely long sentences by putting in their thoughts in the stories.
