Bloodstain Pattern Analysis is strategy to reconstruct as well, to presume the act of the criminal and the victim from observation of the location, a size and a shape of bloodstain in the crime scene. So, an accurate crime process can be inferred by crime scene reconstruction (CSR) with bloodstain pattern analysis. Currently in investigation system of Korea, the level of CSR by bloodstain pattern analysis is launching phase. Only a few investigators who had the education of regular course attempt to analyze. The application of bloodstain pattern analysis on crime scene is very limited in Korea. This study is aimed to introduce the basic principle of bloodstain pattern analysis for crime scene reconstruction and to apply the analytic method to murder case. Bloodstain pattern analysis was performed on crime scene of homicide case occurred in May, 2011, Busan. First, the location, size and shape of bloodstain which came to leave in crime scene were observed and the pattern of the stains was classified according to standard. After synthesizing other investigation data, a possible hypothesis was sat up, and the conclusion was made to prove hypothesis in reasonable and logical process in order to raise a trust. In conclusion, the bloodstain pattern analysis can be applied with useful investigation data for criminal arrest and inquiry phase. In order of valuable investigation data, we must analyze in scientific and logical method.
