Effect on Complications Associated With its Position and Angulation Following Mandibular Third Molar Extraction원문보기

Mandibular third molar extraction is one of the most common procedures performed in oral and maxillofacial surgery units. Although the overall complication rate is low and most complications are minor, mandibular third molar removal is so common that the population morbidity of complications may be significant.1, 2 As such, efforts to limit intraoperative or postoperative complications may have a great impact in terms of enhancing patient outcome. The objectives of this investigation were to identify the position and angulation associated complications after mandibular third molar extractions. We surveyed 568 patients who extracted mandibular third molar by clinical complication and radiographic measurement of available space, depth and spatial relationship.
2. There were no statistical significance between complication and ramus relationship (available space) of the mandibular third molar.
3. There were no statistical significance between complication and depth of mandibular third molar.
4. There were no statistical significance between complication and spatial relationship of mandibular third molar.
There were no difference in complication rate statistically ramus relationship, depth and spatial relationship of mandibular third molar. This finding indicates that position and angulation of mandibular third molar may not have impact on complication. The relationship between position and angulation of mandibular third molar, and complication deserves further study using longitudinal data.
