Sulfur has a long history on the disease healing but isn't other method except using the sulfur hot spring and eating the organic sulfur detoxified through the duck because of native toxicity. We received the patent (Patent registration no.: 10-0874404) as developing the partially detoxified sulfur (non toxic sulfur) to make it practical and mass production possible through laboring for many years. This study practiced SEM, EDS and SIMS analysis as a patent method to confirm if what difference was between the detoxified sulfur and raw (non-detoxified) in the physicochemical aspect and practiced the oral toxicity experiment to confirm if it was possible to apply to animals or human being. Also, this study practiced the experiment to administer by oral route to the fowl and hog as mixing the partially detoxified sulfur with the feed in the fixed ratio to know if it had any effect and efficiency in the case of administering the detoxified sulfur to the live stocks. 1. SEM and EDS analysis This study could see that the partially detoxified sulfur united the particles in the mass form more than raw (non-detoxified) sulfur in the SEM image and the partially detoxified sulfur and raw (non-detoxified) sulfur showed the peak of similar aspect in the EDS analysis. But the weight and atomic weight of elemental S in the partially detoxified sulfur decreased a little more than that in the raw sulfur and atomic weight of elemental C in the partially detoxified sulfur had a tendency to increase a little more than that in the raw sulfur in the componential analysis. 2. SIMS analysis The intensity of S component in the partially detoxified sulfur decreased by 46.15% more than that in the raw sulfur in the SIMS analysis and the intensity of HS component, a toxicity matter, in the partially detoxified sulfur decreased by 50% more than that in the raw sulfur in the SIMS analysis. Therefore, this study could know that the toxicity in the partially detoxified sulfur was released in the physicochemical aspect. 3. Toxicity test There was no experimental animals killed or had any side effects for total test period in the result obtained from the oral toxicity experiment on mice with the 5 times amount (2,500 mg/Kg) than real doses. There was no organs to show any abnormality by over-doses of the partially detoxified sulfur in the case of practicing the necropsy in the final day of the experiment. The male-mice in the experiment group administered the partially detoxified sulfur decreased by 23.6% than that in the control group in increment of mean weight gains in the 7th day and did by 24.3% (p〈0.05) in the 14th day in the case of measuring the change of weight gains. The female-mice in the experiment group administered the partially detoxified sulfur decreased by 28.7% (p〈0.05) than that in the control group in increment of mean weight gains in the 14th day. Therefore, this study could confirm the lipolytic effect, one of sulfur characters and the LD50 (rat, oral) value of the partially detoxified sulfur was over 2,500 mg/Kg. 4. ANTI-BACTERIAL EFFECT OF THE PARTIALLY DETOXIFIED SULFUR The result of antibacterial test on the partially detoxified sulfur was not better antibacterial effect than antibiotics but showed antibacterial effect (27%) to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, a gram-positive bacteria. 5. ADMINISTRATION TEST OF THE PARTIALLY DETOXIFIED SULFUR ON FOWL 5.1. RESULT OF REARING TEST ON BROILER CHICKEN This study practiced the administration test to broiler chicken (breed: Cobb) as mixing the product contained the partially detoxified sulfur to the formula feed. The mean body weight increment in the treated group was higher than that in the control group at slaughter age. Feed conversion rate and raising rate in the treated group was better and didn't observed any side effects by administration of the partially detoxified sulfur. This study could know that it was possible to make performance of broiler higher and rear without adding antibiotics in feed when administered the partially detoxified sulfur to the fowl. 5.2. CONCENTRATION OF AMMONIA GAS (NH3+) IN THE FOWL HOUSE This study measured the concentration of ammonia gas (NH3+) in the fowl house after administering continually to the broiler chicken by oral route from day old to slaughter age as adding the partially detoxified sulfur to the formula feed. The concentration of ammonia gas in the treated group decreased by 22.2% and 57.8% respectively more than that in the control group through 2 tests. Therefore, this study could confirm the significant decreasing effect of ammonia gas concentration by administration of the partially detoxified sulfur. 5.3. EFFECT OF THE PARTIALLY DETOXIFIED SULFUR ON BROILER'S MEAT QUALITY This study analyzed minutely the chemical character, fatty acids composition and amino acids contents on this as picking up Pectoralis thoracica sample after administering the feed mixed with the partially detoxified sulfur to the broiler by oral route. The concentration of S component in muscle in the experiment group administered the partially detoxified sulfur was a little higher. Arachidonic acid, a kind of Eicosanoic acid and Arachidonic acid component bad to the body decreased fast in the treated group. Vaccenic acid didn't come out in the control group but come out a little in the group administered with the partially detoxified sulfur in the fatty acids analysis. The treated group in the Amino acids analysis showed a tendency to increase threonine, serine, glutamic acid, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine and histidine. 5.4. TEST RESULT OF THE PARTIALLY DETOXIFIED SULFUR ON LOW-VIRULENT AVIAN INFLUENZA (A.I) The outbreaking period of the disease in the treated group was short and the mortality from the disease also decreased fast when administered the partially detoxified sulfur by oral route to the broiler breeder occurred naturally low-virulent A.I. The egg production rate in the control group decreased faster and showed a tendency to recover faster that in the treated group. That is, this study could know that it was possible to be decreased the damage owing to low-virulent A.I when administered the partially detoxified sulfur. 6. EFFECTS OF THE PARTIALLY DETOXIFIED SULFUR ON PIG This study measured the concentration of ammonia gas (NH3+) in the hog house after intaking of the feed contained the partially detoxified sulfur to growing-finishing pigs for 28 days. In the comparison with that before administering the partially detoxified sulfur, this study could know that the occurrence of ammonia gas decreased fast because the concentration of ammonia gas in the hog house decreased to the 50% in the end of test. Also, there was no any abnormality and side effects during the administered period of the partially detoxified sulfur on hog.
