This study was designed to examine the effects of the walking activity program on the young children's scientific process skill and scientific attitude. The research problems set for such goals are as follows. 1. How effects does walking activity program make on the young children's scientific process skill? 2. How effects does walking activity program make on the young children's scientific attitude? The subjects of this study include 29 four-year-old children from S child care center for the career women and B child care center located in Gyeonggi-do. The experimental group had 15 children and the control group included 14 children. The average age of the subjects was four years and ten months. This study was conducted in the order of the pre-testing, experimental processing and the post-test. To measure the effects of the walking activity on young children's scientific process skill, 'Scientific Process Skill Test' devised by Gyengmin Lee(2000) and revised and supplemented by Yoon-hee Seo(2003) which is based on the rating scale for the scientific process skill by Martin(1997) was used. As for the tool for measuring the scientific attitude in children, 'Scientific Attitude Test' revised and supplemented by Gyeongmin Lee(2000) based on the assessment criteria for the scientific attitude by Gyeong Sook Yoo(1999) was used. The experiment was conducted twice a week for seven weeks, with the total of 14 experiments. For data processing, SPSS 12.0 was used on the collected data and t-test was conducted to compare and analyze the data. The results from the study can be summarized as follows. First, the walking activity program was found to have a positive effect on the improvement of the young children's scientific process skill. The children from the experimental group who followed the walking activity program showed a significant difference with the children from the control group in terms of the components of the scientific process skill such as "predicting", "observing", "classifying". “measuring” and "discussing". Second, the walking activity program was found to have a positive effect on the improvement in the young children's scientific attitude. The experimental group for which the walking activity program was conducted showed significant differences in the nine components of the scientific attitude such as 'curiosity', 'proactive attitude and active participation', 'objectivity', 'openness' and 'persistence' with the young children in the control group. Above findings show that the walking activity program is effective in improving the young children's scientific process skill and the scientific attitude. Thus, the efforts to provide various opportunities for improving young children's scientific process skill and the scientific attitude by having the children participate in the walking activity program in the education fields would be needed.
