This study was conducted in order to examine ADL, life satisfaction, and quality of life in the disabled at home and look at interrelationship among them and factors that affected their quality of life. The subjects of this study were 102 disabled people staying at home who were aged 20 or older. Their ADL, life satisfaction, and quality of life were measured using K-ADL and K-IADL, life satisfaction scale, and a WHOQOL-BREF, respectively. The results are as follows. First, the disabled at home had overall low ADL, life satisfaction, and quality of life levels. Second, correlation among K-ADL, K-IADL, life satisfaction, and WHOQOL-BREF were significant except for correlation between K-ADL and life satisfaction. In particular, their quality of life had more significant correlation with their K-IADL than their K-ADL. Third, examination of factors that affected their life satisfaction and quality of life showed that mobility and utilization of transportation influenced their life satisfaction and mobility, money management, and purchase of objects influenced their quality of life. Their sense of self, relationship with others, and profession, indicators of their life satisfaction, affected their quality of life. According to all the results mentioned above, home-staying disabled people had low levels of life satisfaction, quality of life, and capabilities to perform ADL. Correlation among their ADL, life satisfaction, and quality of life was statistically significant. In particular, I-ADL was more closely related with their quality of life and life satisfaction than B-ADL was. Moreover, their K-ADL was affected by factors such as mobility, their K-IADL by utilization of transportation, money management, and purchase of objects, and their quality of life by their sense of self and relationship with others. Therefore, intervention with I-ADL rather than B-ADL is considered to be necessary in order to enhance life satisfaction and quality of life in the disabled at home.
