The Moderating Effect of Family resilience in the influence of the stress due to the disabled sibling to the Non-disabled interpersonal relationship problems.

This study performed to look into how non-disabled sibling's stress with disabled siblings at home influences their interpersonal problems and then to examine whether a factor of family resilience gives recognized effects as moderator variable. In order to carry out this study, the Interpersonal Problems Scale, Family Resilience Scale, and Stress Scale have been used for a survey targeting 187 non-disabled living with disabled siblings in the region of Kyeong-Sang Buk-Do in Korea and the analysis has been performed through frequency analysis, interrelationship, and hierarchical regression. To summarize the result of the analysis, firstly, the non-disabled's stress due to their disabled siblings showed significant positive correlations with their interpersonal problems. Secondly, family resilience showed significant negative correlations with their stress due to the disabled siblings and their interpersonal problems. Therefore the moderating Effect of Family resilience in the influence of the stress due to the disabled siblings to the non-disabled interpersonal relationship problems. Such results suggest the need of improvement on sibling relationship or attitudes towards each other for both non-disabled and disabled siblings and also the need in an actual clinical and counseling scenes for a therapeutic intervention such as family therapy which can improve family resilience since their interpersonal problems can be reduced by enhancing family resilience where non-disabled siblings' stress is caused by their disabled siblings.
