For large-area OLED called next-generation display, a number of technical issues should still be solved. Among them, the uniformity of thin-film has a direct effect on product quality. Therefore, this study performed simulations of OLED evaporation process and experiments in order to solve these technical issues. First, this study performed simulations using the Monte Carlo method on reflection properties of point source that is widely used for OELD evaporation process. The result showed that the reflection properties varied according to nozzle shape, that is to say, diameter or length of the nozzle in the point source. Next, this study performed layout simulation reflecting the reflection characteristics of the point source in order to evaporate the uniform thin-film to large area substrate. As a result, the simulated uniformity was expected to be 3.42%. The actual deposition experiments were conducted based on this result. Consequently, the thin-film with 3.75% of uniformity was obtained on 1,280mm in length. Therefore, it was confirmed that large area uniform thin-film could be obtained through a large number of point sources. It is considered that this will make it possible to form large area uniform thin film with more than 8G (2,200×2,500㎟) in the future.
