Phosphatidylcholine(PPC) and biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate (DDB) are known to be effective in the treatment of liver diseases. This investigation aimed to confirm the effectiveness of each drug and a synergic effect of co-administration with PPC and DDB in liver disorder models. We induced two model of liver damage, using CCl4 and galactosamine. To assess the effectiveness of PPC or DDB alone and combined therapy in CCl4 and galactosamine models, we evaluated biochemical analysis in blood(AST, ALT, ALP, trigyceride, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, LDH, glucose, total bilirubin, creatinine) and lipidperoxidation marker in live tissue. In CCl4 model, PPC or DDB alone exerted a protective action with a decrease in AST, ALT and LDH. This protective effectiveness was more evident in the combined therapy with PPC and DDB. Galactosamine induced more significant damage in liver tissue than CCl4 did. PPC or DDB alone was also effective in reducing the biochemical parameters in blood in this higher damaged model like in CCl4 model. Interestingly, the synergic effect of the combined therapy with PPC and DDB was more prominent in this higher damaged model with galatosamine than in mild live damage model with CCl4. From the findings, we suggest that the co-administration with PPC and DDB may be a promising therapy and more effective in the treatment of higher liver damages.
