The purpose of this study was to observe how conducting group art therapy on Internet-addictive youths can effect reduction on their Internet addiction. The subjects of this study were 7 subjects who were classified as Internet-addictive by conducting Korean Internet Addiction Self-evaluation Test (the K-evaluation Test) on to 202 ○○ elementary school sixth grade students, and whose parents permissioned for the therapy. The study was held during from May 3rd, 2012 to July 19th, 2012, having 12 total sessions of group art therapy program that were conducted once a week, 60 minutes each, using the self-development time in free activity time. Also, extra program was held after summer vacation from September 20th to November 8th for after-maintenance management. In order to evaluate the result of the study, Internet Addiction Self-evaluation Test, the K-Evaluation Test, and KHTP were conducted before and afterwards, and their results were measured, compared and analyzed. As a result, there were changes as : First, through the group art therapy, the Internet-addictive students' severity of Internet addiction was alleviated. Through the group art therapy they realized their Internet using habit and their core emotion that made them be obsessed with Internet, and acquired their will to get out from Internet addiction, which led to positive effects of alleviating the Internet addiction. Second, through the group art therapy, the addictive automatic thoughts about Internet got decreased. Group art therapy provided the chance for the individuals to immerse on alternative activities other than Internet, and therefore reduced the addictive automatic thoughts about the usage of Internet, which led to alleviation of Internet addiction. Third, through the group art therapy, the directivity about virtual interpersonal relationship got reduced. Group activities provided the students with the experience of understanding and supporting each other, which made them to aim for relationships in reality rather than virtual relationship. This kind of result not only led to reduction on Internet addiction, but stretched out from the program and also increased interaction among families, improved family relationship, and also had a positive effects on friendships and studying behaviors in school life. Therefore, this study showed that group art therapy can be an effective therapeutic approach for Internet addiction of adolescents, and is also effective as a preventive approach for today's youths with lots of usage of Internet.
