본 연구는 군인의 스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 자아존중감과 사회적 지지가 군인의 스트레스와 우울에 미치는 영향력을 밝히는데 목적이 있다.

본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 군인의 우울 평균치의 기술통계량을 살펴보면 평균이 2.20(SD= .39)이며 대체적으로 우울수준이 중간정도인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 군인의 우울에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 계급(근무경력), 부모의 결혼상태, 주관적 경제수준, 주관적 건강상태가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 계급이 낮을수록, 부모가 기혼이 아닐수록, 주관적 경제수준과 건강수준이 낮을수록 우울이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 통제변수들 가운데 자아존중감 및 사회적 지지와 우울의 차이를 살펴보면, 자아존중감이 낮을수록 우울이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 지지가 낮을수록 우울이 높은 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 군인의 스트레스와 우울의 관계를 살펴보면, 스트레스 수준이 높아질수록 우울이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.
넷째, 군인의 스트레스와 우울의 관계를 살펴보면, 사회적 지지 중 특히 간부의 지지가 지니는 상호작용 효과가 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 이는 스트레스가 높아질수록 우울은 증가하며, 여기에 간부의 지지가 있으면 스트레스로 인해 높아지는 우울을 완화시키고, 스트레스가 높아지는 상황에서는 우울을 더 완화시키는 것으로 나타났다.
다섯째, 스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향에서 자아존중감의 영향을 살펴보면, 자아존중감이 높은 집단에서는 자아존중감이 낮은 집단에 비해 우울이 낮고, 스트레스 상황에서 우울이 급격하게 상승하는 반면 자아존중감이 낮은 집단에서는 자아존중감이 높은 집단에 비해 우울이 높고 스트레스로 인하여 우울이 급격하게 상승하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 자아존중감은 우울을 낮추지만 스트레스가 높아지면 우울을 낮추는 영향이 감소함을 알 수 있었다.
이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 한 본연구의 함의는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 사회취약계층에 속한 군인과 입대 초기 군인의 정신건강이 특히 취약함을 인지하고 이에 따른 조기 개입이 중요함을 시사하고 있다.
둘째, 군인의 자아존중감과 사회적 지지가 우울에 영향을 미치므로 이를 향상시키고 높일 수 있는 방안이 제도적으로 마련되어야 할 것이다.
셋째, 군인의 스트레스를 감소시키고 이완시킬 수 있는 전문적인 대처기법과 분노조절훈련이 제공되어야 할 필요성이 제기된다.
넷째, 간부의 지지는 군인의 우울과 밀접한 관계임을 확인할 수 있으며, 간부의 지지를 활용한 개입 방안에 대한 모색이 요구된다.

The data collection was carried out from November 7, 2012 to November 14, 2012. The survey was used on analysis 282copies of a total of 320 copies.
This was analyzed by using SPSS 18.0 Win program for analysis, Cronbach's a value of verification, frequency analysis, T-test, ANOVA, Schéffe, post-test, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis etc.
The results of this study are as follows.
First, looking at the descriptive statistics of the melancholy average of soldiers an average 2.20 (SD = .39), and generally the level of melancholy showed medium. Also, the factors affecting melancholy of the soldiers showed significant into the ranks (work experience), marital status of parents subjective economic status, perceived health status. In other words, this showed the lower ranks, the parents are not married, the lower subjective economic level and level of health, the higher depression.
Second, looking at the difference in self-esteem, social support and melancholy of the control variables, showed the higher melancholy, the lower self-esteem, and the lower social support, the higher depression.
Third, looking at the relationship of stress and melancholy of soldier, they were found the higher stress levels, the more melancholy increased.
Fourth, it showed that interaction effect is statistically significant in the relationship between melancholy and the stress of the soldiers, with social support, the support of cadre support. It showed the higher stress, the more increased melancholy and if there is a support of cadre here, weakening melancholy increased due to stress and further weakening melancholy in higher stress situations.
Fifth, looking at the impact of self-esteem at the impact of stress on melancholy, high self-esteem group compared to the low self-esteem group is low, melancholy rises sharply in stressful situations, whereas low self-esteem group compared to a group of high self-esteem group is high, melancholy does not rise sharply due to stress.
Based on these results, the implications of this study are as follows First, enlisted soldiers belonging to the society vulnerable and initial soldier's mental health are particularly vulnerable to cognitive and accordingly suggests the importance of early intervention. Second, the soldier's self-esteem and social support affect on melancholy therefore it should be prepared to improve and increase institutionally.
Third, professional management techniques and anger management training reducing and relaxing the stress of soldiers need to be provided.
Fourth, the support of the executive is closely related to the melancholy of the soldiers and the intervention measures utilizing the support of the executive is required.
Fifth, multifaceted approach improving the self-esteem needs to reduce and prevent the stress and melancholy of soldiers.
In this study, follow-up studies will be carried out about the counseling of perspective of the strengths and multifaceted approach that can promote the growth and development of the soldier. This study presents the empirical basis data of policies laid for the mental health of soldiers.
