여대생의 자각하는 유·수분 정도에 따른 피부상태 분석 Analysis of the Relationship of the Subjective Level of Skin Moisture and Oil to Skin Condition among Female College Students원문보기

Skin moisture and skin oil are two of the major factors to affect the functionality of the skin, and the physiological characteristics of the skin depend on the amount of moisture and oil. Besides, people's choice of cosmetics and skin care are under the influence of their own awareness of the amount of skin moisture and oil. The purpose of this study was to examine the subjective awareness of female college students on the state of the moisture and oil of their facial skin in an effort to provide information on the development of scientific and efficient skin care programs and quality cosmetics. It's specifically meant to check the skin condition of female college students in each part of the face using a non-invasive measurement method to determine the relationship of their subjective state of skin moisture and oil to the results of the measurement. The subjects in this study were the female students at colleges located in Gyeonggi Province. A survey was conducted to find out their subjective state of skin moisture and oil from November 26 to December 7, 2012. And a non-invasive method was used to test their moisture, oil, pH, melanin and erythema for each part of the facial skin. The answer sheets from 218 respondents were analyzed. The statistical package SPSS 19.0 was employed to analyze the collected data, and descriptive statistics analysis and ANOVA were utilized. The findings of the study were as follows: First, as for subjective state of moisture and oil, they got 7.60±3.07 in the state of moisture, which indicated they found their skin to be oily enough. They got 6.86±3.65 in the state of moisture, which implied that they found their skin to lack moisture. Second, concerning the relationship between subjective amount of oil and the measured value of it, there was a significant difference on the forehead between the two groups at the 10% level of significance. And there was a significant difference in that regard about eye rims between the two groups at the 5% level of significance as well. Regarding the relationship between subjective amount of oil and the measured value of moisture, there was a significant difference on the chin between the two groups at the 10% level of significance. As to the relationship between subjective amount of oil and the measured value of melanin, there was a significant difference on the forehead between the two groups at the 5% level of significance. Third, in regard to the relationship between subjective amount of moisture and the measured value of melanin, there was a significant difference on the chin between the two groups at the 5% level of significance. As a result of comparing the female college students' subjective awareness of the amount of their facial skin moisture and oil with the measured values of the two, there were differences between their self-rated amount of skin oil and the measured value of it, but no differences were found in the amount of skin moisture. It was assumed that subjective awareness of skin moisture would be affected by the amount of skin moisture, but there were no differences in the amount of moisture according to their subjective awareness. In other words, they found their skin to lack moisture or considered their lack of moisture to be above average, though there were no actual differences in content of water. And no differences were found between that and the other measured values of skin condition. Accordingly, it seems that subjective awareness of moisture might be under the large influence of other factors than the amount of skin moisture, and sustained research efforts should be directed into that. To ensure the right skin care and the right choice of cosmetics, it's required to have a correct understanding of skin condition using a scientific and accurate non-invasive method instead of merely relying on one's own subjective judgment. This will be one of sure ways to lower the side effects of improper skin care or of the wrong choice of cosmetics. Keywords: the state of moisture and oil, each part of the face, skin condition.
