The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among the big five personality factors, self-esteem and SNS addiction tendency of college students. The subjects in this study were 325 selected college students in the region of Busan and Gyeongsangbuk-do. Their big five personality factors, self-esteem and SNS addiction tendency were assessed to gather data, and a correlation analysis was carried out to look for connections among the variables. The process of the data was estimated by SPSS 18.0. The major findings of the study were as follows: First, there were significant differences among the college students in SNS addiction tendency according to their demographic characteristics. The SNS addiction tendency was statistically significantly different according to gender and grade. Two female university students than male university students was higher SNS addiction tendency. And Two first grade than third grade was higher SNS addiction tendency. Second, there was a positively correlation among the exteaversion, agreeableness, conscientousness, experience and the self-esteem of the college students and self-esteem was negative correlated to neuroticism. But there was a negative correlation between the neuroticism and SNS addiction tendency of the college students. Finally there was a negative correlation between the self-esteem and SNS addiction tendency of the college students. Third, the exteaversion, conscientousness, neuroticism, experience of the college students had a statistically significant impact on their self-esteem. Fourth, the neuroticism of the college students had a statistically significant impact on their SNS addiction tendency. Fifth, the self-esteem of the college students had a statistically significant impact on their SNS addiction tendency. Consequently, the self-esteem and neuroticism has influences on their SNS addiction tendency. Therefore, these finding give deep and reasonable understandings on the associations among big five personality factors, self-esteem and SNS addiction tendency in college students. Accordingly, the result of this research implies that when college students have SNS addiction tendency, they need to improve self-esteem and understanding of their personality.
