Internationally, the majority of the countries are transforming into multi-cultural societies and South Korea is also seeing a rapid increase in the number of foreigners, taking up 3% of the total population. Thus, the ethnic·cultural diversity of the Korean society is increasing drastically. As the Korean society which was based on the tradition of a single-race nation entered into the multi-cultural environment phase, various multi-cultural policies have been proposed, however, there are difficulties in the coexistence of various cultures with discriminative attitude towards other races and other ethnic groups. Recently, researches related to the cultural diversity policies have continuously been proposed both home and abroad for the coexistence with various cultures within our society. As a member of the society, the aim is to resolve the issue on prejudices towards minority groups and the unequal elements within the society such as not only the households of foreigners and multi-cultural families but also the religious, gender, disability, social status and others. Therefore, in the future, enabling teenagers who would become part of the upright social members in a multi-cultural society, acknowledging the fact that various races and cultures coexist and establishing a fair society without prejudice or bias and fostering the cultural diversity attitude is more important than anything else. Thus, this study investigates the cultural diversity on various social differences such as races, ethnic groups, religions, gender, language, disability, social status, sexual preference and others with the subjects being teenagers. Moreover, the difference in cultural diversity attitude according to personal background factors and experience factors was researched. As a result of the study, prejudice on other cultures and minority groups existed and the cognitive perspective on the need to resolve these issues was indicated to be high, meanwhile, from an emotional perspective, the interest in other cultures and minorities groups was low and the standard of actively taking action to resolve the social injustice was low. The areas where there was a significant difference in the attitude in cognitive area and behavioral area were 'Difference in religious beliefs', 'Difference in sexual preference', and 'Inequality on racial discrimination'. This indicates that although the standard of understanding the differences on religious and sexual preference and racial discrimination was high, when an unjust situation related to such occurred, the standard of taking active action on it was low. As for individual factors that indicate the difference in the cultural diversity attitude of teenagers, gender, school type and school grades were statistically significant. As for the gender, female students showed higher cultural diversity attitude and as for the school type, coed school showed higher cultural diversity attitude when compared to boys or girls school. As for the school grade, students with higher grades showed higher cultural diversity attitude than students with lower grades. As for the experience factors that show the difference in the cultural diversity attitude of teenagers, it was confirmed that the standard of cultural diversity attitude was high when one experienced listening to a class or lecture related to multi-culture, when one experienced listening to a class together with a foreigner, when one was regularly involved in volunteer activities or when one was involved in volunteer activities for a long period of time. To foster the correct understanding and achievements on cultural diversity of teenagers who would be living in a multi-cultural society, the cultural diversity education for teenagers has to induce more achievements and actions and a systematic and integrated cultural diversity education has to be developed to embrace not only other cultures but also social minority groups such as other religious people, homosexuals, disabled and others. Moreover, not only the formal education within the school but also experience learning such as regular volunteering activity programs have to be activated to resolve the prejudice and inequality within the society. The cultural diversity attitude has to be instilled so that teenagers would become part of a member of the society that can coexist together, thus multilateral efforts are required from the school and the education site of teenagers.
