In this article a study was made on the background & characteristics focused on J. S. Bach Cello Suite BWV 1007 No.1 being a graduation recital program of the researcher. In this music consisted of Prelude and 5 dance musics (ALLAMANDE, COURANTE, SARABANDE, MENUETⅠ, MENUET Ⅱ, GIGUE), you can see the features of Baroque music. Firstly J. S. Bach used chromatic or diatonic progression to give harmonical colors and also used sequence of melody. From showing ALLAMANDE chords of Neapolitan six and from showing MENUET introduction of diminished 7th chords as a natural precursor to the movement and melodic changes can be seen. The second J. S. Bach used polyphony technique and mid doble stopping to represent at the same time the bass melody instrument and continuo. Arpeggio which was used in the first part of the prelude to the first movement was actually single melody and musically included in the meaning of hamonic progression. He also overcame limitation of unaccompaniment with using doble stopping playing melody. Finally Suite No. 1 definitely shows establishment of the composition system. Also according to the movement of composition system, it shows naturalness through a gradual escape by moving the tonic key to the relative key, rather than escape through the dramatic change of composition. In conclusion, J. S. Bach was presented a new direction based on the traditional form through Cello Suite No. 1 about the characteristic of the Baroque era he lived and represented his own world. Unaccompanied Suite are one of the masterpieces that cellist have to play. Even though it consists of a simply melody and rhythm, this music that cellist want to avoid can be represented unity as basso continuo and melody instruments that J. S. Bach wanted to tell only if it is joined together with accurate tone of diatonic and chromatic is based on the deep sound of the open string.
