The GNSS-derived orthometric height is determined by subtracting the geoid undulation from the GNSS-derived ellipsoidal height, and it is a very simple and cost-efficient method than the traditional leveling. This study estimates the GNSS-derived orthometric height and its accuracy using the KNGeoid13(Korean National Geoid Model 2013) published by NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) and the GNSS-derived ellipsoidal height conducted by the GNSS Static and VRS surveys. The factors affecting the accuracy of the GNSS-derived ellipsoidal height are analyzed to verify their effects on the accuracy of the GNSS-derived orthometric height. Moreover, the adjusted ellipsoidal height is introduced and applied to correct the bias between the reference surfaces of the hybrid geoid model and the local orthometric height. The GNSS-derived orthometric height corrected by the adjusted ellipsoidal height has an improvement of 4cm in RMSE than the previous. The accuracies of GNSS-derived orthometric height are 3.7cm and 4.2cm in the standard deviation at 95% confidence interval if the observations are conducted for 4 hours and 2hours in each day during two days, respectively, by GNSS Static survey. Also, the accuracies are 4.16cm, 4.46cm, and 4.68cm when GNSS Static surveys are conducted for 4, 2 hours and 30 min in one day, respectively. In case of GNSS VRS survey, the accuracy of the GNSS-derived orthometric height is 8.38cm at 95% confidence interval if it receives both GPS and GLONASS signals, but the accuracy is decreased as 9.36cm if it only uses GPS signal. This study is expected to contribute to design the publick benchmark surveying procedure using the GNSS-derived orthometric height. If the reliable gravity and GNSS/Leveling data are conducted additionally in the future, it makes improvement on the accuracy of geoid model and the GNSS-derived orthometric heights, eventually.
