Efficacy and safety of a monophasic hyaluronic acid filler in the correction of nasolabial folds: A randomized, multi-center, patient- and evaluator-blinded, matched pairs, active-controlled design clinical study원문보기

Background: Dermal fillers with hyaluronic acid (HA) are among the versatile products available for the correction of moderate to severe nasolabial folds. Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a new monophasic HA filler (mono-HA) and well-studied biphasic HA filler (bi-HA) for the correction of nasolabial folds. Methods: At two study centers, a total of 79 subjects enrolled in this randomized, patient- and evaluator-blinded, split-face comparative study. Subjects were randomized to treatment with mono-HA or bi-HA on the contralateral sides of the face. The Wrinkle Severity Rating Scale (WSRS) and Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) scores on both nasolabial folds were assessed after treatment. Adverse events were monitored through the subject diary. Results: At weeks 8, 16, 24, 36, and 48, the mean improvement in the WSRS and GAIS scores was comparable between the mono-HA and bi-HA groups. Both fillers were well tolerated, and most adverse reactions were mild and transient. Conclusion: This mono-HA shows non-inferior efficacy to bi-HA in the treatment of nasolabial folds.
