This study aims to prove that forest healing program is a suitable stress recovery program to relieve and prevent stress and fatigue of modern people. To achieve the objective, the study investigates physical and mental stress recovery effect of forest healing program Participants were divided into 3 groups of comparative groups, which consist of group A: Participants in Forest healing program of JangSeong healing forest (25 persons), group B: Visiting people to JangSeong healing forest for hiking (20 persons), and group C: People having hobby in a health club located in Seo-Gu, GwangJu (36 persons). For experiment, participants were divided into 3 groups of comparative groups, which consist of group A: Forest healing program (25 persons), group B: Hiking (20 persons), and group C: Aerobic (25 persons). From Sept 2012 to Sept 2013, the experimental group (group A) participated in the forest healing program at 'Jangseong healing Forest' while group B, a comparative group participated only in hiking at the same forest. Also, group C participated in aerobic activity at gyms. In terms of research tool, a survey consisting of inquiries on physical and mental stress was conducted as a subjective measurement tool. The stress measurement tool used was evaluated and revised by In Hee Lee based on Bok hee park's stress measurement tool. As a tiredness measurement tool, a fatigue subjective symptom check table which developed by Japanese Industrial Hygiene Academy's association for research on Industrial fatigue was used and a survey was conducted to measure the degree of physical and mental stress. As an objective measurement tool, blood pressure measurement and HRV measurement, autonomic nervous function test were tested to measure stress resistance, stress index and blood vessel score, so as all the pre and post data were collected. To analyze data, each questions were graded and took statistics using SPSS/WIN 18.0 and frequency analysis was conducted to investigate general features of participants, as One way ANOVA was used to check equivalence of test groups. Also, t-test was used for analytical processing of pre and post test. The results of the research are as follow: First, in a stress test through a questionnaire, physical stress of all 3 test groups was analyzed to have positive changes at pre and post test. Second, in a stress test through a questionnaire, mental stress of all 3 test groups were analyzed to having positive changes at pre and post test. Third, physical fatigue through questionnaires of all 3 test groups was analyzed to having positive changes at pre and post test. Fourth, mental fatigue of all three test groups was analyzed to having positive changes at pre and post test. Fifth, blood pressure of all the test groups has shown positive changes at pre and post test, but there was no statistically significant relations. Sixth, stress resistance of forest healing program group has shown statistically significant relation at pre and post test, therefore forest healing program was statistically shown to be more effective in improving stress resistance. Seventh, stress index of forest healing program has shown statistically significant relation at pre and post test, therefore forest healing program was statistically shown to be more effective activity to lower stress index. Overall, forest healing activity have shown statistically significant difference in mental stress, physical stress, mental fatigue, stress resistance, and stress index, which proves that forest healing program has positive effects in stress recovery, while lower negative effects of physical and mental stress.
