ABSTRACT A Study on the Current Conditions and Improving Directions for Immigrants in the Korean Church Mission Shin-Il Choe Department of Theology, The Graduate School Hoseo University CheonAn, Korea (Supervised by Professor Byung-June Hwang, Ph.D.) The purpose of this study is to suggest a role for missionary work and its direction of churches in Korea according by transition of Korean society into multi-cultural society. The world became a globalized society in which people freely cross the borders because of development of transportation along with openings of markets in the world in 21C. These globalization flow already changed many foreign countries as multi-cultural society and it influences on this country a lot too. By the report of Ministry of Security and Public Administration, the number of foreign residents who live in this country was about 1,570 thousands at January 1st, 2014. This is 3.1% of total population which was registered as resident in this country. Due to report of Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, the foreign residents will take 10% of total population of this country at 2050. The role for missionary work of the churches in Korea looks very important in multi-cultural society to which, the forecast says, Korean society will be changed so quickly. This study examined the current state of the missionary work for the immigrants in Korea recognizing these important flow of time, and performed a case study through deep personal interview dividing types of the missionary work for the immigrants mainly in four to analyze the actual state of the missionary work for the immigrants deeply. The study has been performed divided as, first, the case of failure of the missionary work for the immigrants, Second, the form of affiliated churches, third, the missionary work institution for the immigrants, fourth, the missionary work institution for Saetomin, and based on the result of this, this study suggested the role and direction of the missionary work for the immigrants of churches in Korea by analyzing the actual state of the missionary work for the immigrants of churches in Korea.
