The purpose of the study was to look into differences in general characteristics and the relationships between communication ability, self- identity and college adjustment among college students for providing basic data about guidance service and prevention of maladjustment. The subjects were 297(M: 153, F: 144) students from three colleges. The data were collected using communication ability scale, self-identity scale and college adjustment scale and analyzed by independent t-test, one way ANOVA, correlation analysis with Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient through IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0 program. The major results of this study were as follows. First, communication ability was significantly different according to students’ major. Second, self-identity was significantly different according to sex and religious affiliation. Third, college adjustment was significantly different according to sex, religious affiliation, GPA and economic status. Fourth, there were significantly positive correlations between communication ability and college adjustment. Fifth, there were significantly positive correlations between communication ability and self-identity. Sixth, there were significantly positive correlations between self-identity and college adjustment. In summary, there were significant correlations between communication ability, self-identity, and college adjustment. Clinical implications and limitations of the study were discussed. Key word : communication ability, self-identity, college adjustment
