The purpose of this thesis aims to explore an English curriculum and teaching methods in Elementary schools from the past to the current to seek its changes and possibly comb out its faults. In accordance with the purpose, the research questions were set up as below, First, which problems has been brought up through the preceding research analysis? Second, grasp the current problems that has been committed by carrying out the survey targeting English teachers and students. Third, comprehend the substantive faults by two hundred and forty hour of observing English classes and teaching after-school students in person in Elementary school from March, 2015. In spite of the advancements of education for decades-long, a public elementary English education still has come with serious hindrance and is not significantly different with the current problems that has been committed. An obstacle to class as a lack of lesson time and qualitative outstanding teachers, an overcrowded class is still appearing in classes, and differentiated classes-oriented, a ‘speaking skills’ which brings students on memorizing only dialogues as ‘Audio-lingual Method’ and disturbs their creative thoughts, interests and communicative skill has been a new outbreak of the main causes of hindrance. An expansion of lesson time and reconstitution of a content for the curriculum could be found as an improvement plan but it is highly unlikely. Therefore, we should focus on students centered a regular research on students’ needs and English level to take accurate observations for the differentiated classes and provide an environment which could attract the real message and ‘comprehensible output’ from students to improve their communicative skills. Our Education system is in a process of being molded in a very swift rate and is at a constant change. This research will guide the methods of teach in the English field for the future of today, the students in our primary grade levels. After all, we only want the most suitable teaching methods and in creating the ultimate learning environment for them.
