This empirical study dealing with corporate social responsibility (CSR) investigated the effect of consumers' mood which the studies examining CSR may have overlooked. Thus, in order to examine the effect of consumers' mood, consumers' mood was used as a moderate variable to identify whether the main effect of types of CSR and donation amount, based on Social Exchange Theory on consumers' attitude and purchase intention, are moderated by the mood of consumers. To achieve the purpose of this study, the data was collected through convenience sampling, using students majoring in physical education in K-university in Seoul, Korea. Among 151 returned questionnaires from participants of this study, a total of 148 questionnaires, excluding three considered functionless, were used to analyze the data. The data was analyzed using SPSS 18.0, using t-test, MANOVA, ANOVA, RM-ANOVA, and ANCOVA to verify its hypotheses. According to results of this study, consumers' attitude and attendance intentions toward a sports team conducting CSR were different from the types of CSR by a sports team . Thus, hypotheses 1, 2, and 5 were supported, showing a statistically significant difference. Regarding hypothesis 3, the researcher assumed that CSR by a sponsor company would have a positive effect on consumers? attitudes toward a sponsor company. The result of the hypothesis 3 was supported, showing consumers?attitude improvement. Regarding hypothesis 4, it was hypothesized that in the case of CSR by a sponsor company with a sports team, consumers?attitude change toward a sponsor company would be higher than consumers?attitude change toward a sport team. The result of analyzing showed hypothesis 4 was supported. In addition to hypothesis 6, the researcher assumed that a sponsor company?s CSR could make consumers purchase intention higher when the donation amount is larger, and the hypothesis was supported. The researcher analyzed hypotheses from 7 to 9 in order to verify a moderate variable of consumers? mood. Hypothesis 7 showed consumers? attitude change toward a sport team. Hypothesis 7, it was hypothesized that consumers? attitude change toward a sports team in accordance with a sports team?CSR type would be moderated by consumers? mood, and the main effect of the attitude change would be larger in negative mood than positive mood. This hypothesis was also supported. Hypothesis 8 was about donation amount from a sponsor company. The principal effect of consumers?attitude change toward a sponsor company, depending on donation amount, would be moderated when the mood is more negative than positive. This hypothesis was supported as well. Finally, hypothesis 9 showed consumers?attitude changes by the levels of donation amount toward a sponsor company were moderated by their mood state. When they are in negative mood, their attitude change would be larger than they are in positive mood. In this case, the hypothesis was not supported. Each hypothesis result was discussed in this article, and the findings may practically be applied to the actual professional sport teams. Thus, the current researcher established a new topic into the sport marketing field, using the mood as a variable.
