This study targeting the pine-wilt-disease-affected areas of Jinju and Sacheon surveyed the pine wood nematode distribution pattern, explored pine wilt disease pesticides, and analyzed wilted tree utilization measures in a bid to use the data as the basic material for the prevention and extermination of pine wilt disease. The findings of this study are summarized as below. The distribution characteristics of pine wood nematodes by location in the wilted black pines in the target areas were examined, and revealed that the average wood nematode densities per g at the tubulation part were 381.2 in Jinju and 341 in Sacheon. The average wood nematode densities per g in the crown center part were 186 in Jinju and 191.2 in Sacheon. The average densities at the crown bottom were 9.6 in Jinju and 16.2 in Sacheon. The pine wood nematodes from the monthly wilted black pines in Jinju were taken, and their occupation ratios by the tree area were analyzed. From the results, the top area ratio accounted for the highest 61.57%, while it accounted for 61.88% in Sacheon from July to December. The pine wood nematode densities per g detected in the affected Japanese black pines with a visual wilt rate of under 60% were 556 in Jinju and 518 in Sacheon. In the wilted black pines after one year of exposure to the disease, the ratios of pine wood nematode to similar wood nematode (plant-parasitic nematode) were revealed as 48% vs. 52% in Jinju and 53% vs. 47% in Sacheon. The pine wood nematode survival rates detected in the sample pines after 9 months and one year were 5-50% and 0-10% in Jinju and 30-40% and 5-20% in Sachoen, respectively. In Gyeongsangnam-do, Jinju-si and Sacheon-si, the pine wood nematode survival associated with the wood surface water content rate was identified, and its survival water content rate within the wood was examined. Geoje had the highest ratio of 39.9% and Changnyeong-gun had the lowest ratio of 6%; in Jinju-si, Geumsan-myeon had the highest ratio of 38.9% and Sabong-myeon had the lowest ratio of 6.4%. In Sacheon-si, Sanam-myeon had the highest ratio of 37.6% and Chukdong-myeon area had the lowest ratio of 6.8%. The wilt rate caused by pine wood nematode in the affected forest areas was the highest with 41.7% in September and 11.1% from January to June of the next year in Jinju. In Sacheon, the wilt rate was the highest with 39.3% in October and 12.5% from January to June in the next year. In both regions, the wilt rate was 70% in the range from August to October. In the forest areas affected by the pine wood nematode, the distribution rate of the survival trees and wilted trees by diameter at breast height(DBH) was the highest 37.2% at 25cm DBH for survival trees in Jinju. Sacehon also had the highest survival tree rate of 39.8% at 25cm DBH. Jinju had the highest wilted tree rate of 30.5% at 30cm DBH, and Sacheon had the highest wilted tree rate of 28.3% at 30cm DBH. The fatality rate of the pine wood nematode was 100% regardless of DBH when sterilizing the affected trees using the dry sterilizer while the wilted tree's internal temperature stood at 60℃. It was 80-76% according to DBH when the temperature was 50℃; as DBH increased, the fatality rate decreased steadily and slightly. It took 120-300 minutes for the internal temperature of the wilted tree to reach 60℃, and the more the time increased, the more DBH. When the dilution rate was 500 times, apharm(Emamectin benzoate EC) showed a fatality rate of over 90% regardless of time. Smithion (Fenitrothion EC) showed the same fatality rate as apharm, but when the dilution rate was over 1,500 times, it showed the lowest fatality rate of 66-79%. Thus, it is suggested that the fatality rate varied according to dilution rates. The vegetative essential oil, phytoncide, had a very low fatality rate of 1-21.5% regardless of dilution rate and time, and the worm stop from the plant extractor had a low fatality of 7-43%.
