Purpose of study; This study investigated the effects of an activity focused intervention program on the health condition, motor functions, daily life independence, and social participation in daily life in children with cerebral palsy, to provide baseline data for effective intervention for these children. Methods; The study subjects were 36 children with cerebral palsy (mean age: 10 years) who understood the purpose of the study and voluntarily consented to participate; they were divided into an experiment group(n=18), which underwent the activity focused interventions program, and a control group (n=18) that underwent a neurodevelopmental treatment. The 12-week intervention was applied to both groups as a 30-minute session three times per week. Changes in motor function, activity, and social participation were identified in the subjects before and after the intervention using the measurement tools of the Comprehensive International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health(ICF) Core Set, the Gross Motor Function Measure(GMFM), the functional independence measure(Wee FIM) for children, and a tool for children's assessment of participation and enjoyment(CAPE). Results; Both groups showed a significant increase in the results of the Gross Motor Function Measure, the Wee FIM for children, and children's assessment of participation and enjoyment in within-subject comparisons after the experiment. The experiment group showed a significant increase in the Comprehensive ICF Core set after the intervention, while no significant difference was found in the between-group comparison of the experiment group and the control group after the intervention. Conclusion; The activity focused intervention program may serve as an effective method for improving the activities of daily living in children with cerebral palsy, including their health condition, motor functions, daily life independence, and social participation.
