This study aims to examine the communication characteristics of the main fosterers of late-talker comparing with the communication characteristics of main fosterers from each group of normal children and late-talker. We conducted K M-B CDI and SELSI test subjecting main fosterers with 18-32 months old children, classified the group into late-talker and normal children, and selected 20 children and main fosterers as study subjects. We analyzed the communication characteristics of main fosterers shown in interactive relationship between children and main fosterers during 50-minute free play situation by dividing into interactive behavior(verbal, non-verbal) and linguistic inputs. The result is as follows. First, as for the non-verbal interactive behavior, the late-talker group showed significantly low frequency in "Wait and listen", "follow the children's lead", "join and play", "be face to face", "scan" than the normal children group. As for the verbal interactive behavior, late-talker group showed significantly low frequency in "encourage turn-taking", "use a variety of questions", "expand" and "extend" than the normal children group. Second, as for the linguistic inputs, late-talker group showed significantly low output in NTW and NDW than the normal children group. This study classified communication characteristics of main fosterers of late-talker into interactive behavior and linguistic input, and suggested the analysis standard for interactive behavior in accordance with the colloquial behavior, which is a significant contribution to the field of study.
