첫째, 기준곡 1은 a=0.98로 1/f 의 구조를 잘 보여주나 기준곡 2는 a=0.47, a=1.42, a=1.88 로 1/f와는 차이를 보였다. 둘째, 각 장르별 결과로는 진정성 가요(0.97 < a < 1.28), 정악(1.00 < a < 1.25), 가사가 없는 속악(0.58 < a < 0.74), 타악 (0.94 < a < 1.05), 뉴에이지(0.67 < a < 1.24), 동요(1.01 < a < 1.28), 국악 동요(1.01 < a < 1.17), 치료음악(0.82 < a < 1.28), 클래식(0.80 < a < 1.16)은 1/f 구조를 이루고 있고, 자극성 가요(2.05 < a < 2.99), 가사가 있는 속악(0.34 < a < 0.84)은 1/f 의 구조에서 벗어난 것으로 나타났다.

When it comes to what music therapists are never allowed to miss in relation to music therapy, it is how they must find pieces of music that are proper enough to help them achieve their goals. As for the present music therapy, it basically focuses on Western music, and pieces of music to be used for treatment are being actually selected by therapists’ personal tendencies. In the light of that, focusing on Fractal Theory, this study first analyzes music in a variety of genres which is being currently used for music therapy and establishes music selection standards. After all, the study aims to use its analysis and selection standards for generalizing music that can be possibly applied as efficient methods of treatment and at the same time, it confirms gukak Korean classical music’s chance of making a contribution to music therapy, which is the genre of music that has not been yet often tried in the field of music therapy. This study which had conducted an analysis with this Fractal Theory-based argument on how music is also a part of sounds carried out demonstrative analyses on the second movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 21 and two pieces from Gloomy Sunday as Reference 1 and Reference 2 respectively, and that helped the study to see if the references are suitable enough to be applied to the existing Fractal Theory. Findings of the research are summarized as follows. First, Reference 1 did satisfy a structure of 1/f with a=0.98 but in regard to Reference 2, it appeared to have a=0.47, a=1.42 and a=1.88, which would be distinguished from 1/f. For that reason, the study understands that Reference 1 may lead listeners to positive emotions by relaxing them or relieving their pains but in terms of Reference 2, it has a possibility of causing uncomfortable and unpleasant emotions. Second, the study investigated by music genre and found out that while popular songs that sing with a sense of authenticity(0.97 < a < 1.28), court music(1.00 < a < 1.25), folk music without lyrics(0.58 < a < 0.74), percussive music(0.94 < a < 1.05), New Age music(0.67 < a < 1.24), children’s songs(1.01 < a < 1.28), gukak Korean classical music children’s songs(1.01 < a < 1.17), therapeutic music(0.82 < a < 1.28) and classical music(0.80 < a < 1.16) have the 1/f structure, as for provocative popular songs(2.05 < a < 2.99) and folk music with lyrics(0.34 < a < 0.84), they are no longer obsessed with the 1/f structure. Results of the genre-based analysis revealed that in relation to music which is used as a material for music therapy, personal preferences of clients therapy targets and therapists need to be considered but in terms of provocative popular songs or folk music with lyrics, since they may stimulate the clients’ unpleasant and negative emotions, the application of those genres must be made with the great attention. The study argues that in order to expand the range of gukak Korean classical music therapy and strengthen the foundation, the therapists first need to know how, of these genres of gukak Korean classical music, traditional children’s songs, court music and percussive music would come in with this physical structure similar to that of the music which has been used for music therapy. Pieces of gukak Korean classical music in those genres are regarded as music that has been structurally stabilized. That is why this study assumes that once the therapists find ways to make efficient use of those pieces in those genres, they will be given a chance to perform music therapy which works even more effectively to the emotions of Koreans. However, the study suggests that in order to achieve the more effective performance of music therapy to the emotions of Koreans, the therapists should first improve their understanding on gukak Korean classical music and then should develop systematic music therapy programs using traditional children’s songs, court music and folk music.
