The characteristics of Atmospheric pressure plasma discharge was studied for bio-medical applications. The most important issue of biomedical applications is user safety and user friendly. To achieve these purpose, properties of atmospheric pressure plasma was studied in various working conditions, such as electrode structures, flow rates of working gas, and optical signals of plasma columns. The various types of electrode structures with or without the ground electrode are analyzed through the analysis of equivalent circuit. The external ground electrode of dielectric barrier discharge is proper to the plasma jets of inert gases (He, Ne, and Ar). For the jets of N2 and air, the nozzle of metal ground electrode at the end of glass tube is suggested to reduce the operation voltage and to have a low plume-current The solution of the fluid momentum equation in incompressible steady state flow is obtained for gas and plasma streams in the fluid channels of the atmospheric pressure plasma-jets. In the studies, the plasma length is verified to increase with an increase in the gas flow rate until Rn ≈ Rnc, and then it shrinks as the flow becomes turbulent. Experiments of measuring the optical signals show some discrepancy according to the polarity of operation voltage in the model of plasma jet. The optical signals are propagated along the plasma jet column has been analyzed by the electrostatic plasma waves. For the positive voltage, the ion wave propagates forward to the ground open air while the electron wave propagates backward followed just after the ion wave-front is passing by. For the negative voltage, the ion wave as well as the electron wave has the forward propagation on the plasma column region of high ionization and high electric field. Devices for plasma jets and dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) plasma have been developed for application to a living body. These devices have been developed to avoid thermal damage and electric shock. The plasma jets have been developed with the various ground electrode structures according to the various gases in use, such as inert gases, molecular ormixture gases, air. The dielectric barrier discharge plasma devices are shown to be the new advents of plasma stamp, stick, comb, and roller.
