This paper analyzed livestock certification systems and equestrian service, a leisure activity in advanced countries, which have become more important with changing social conditions including Korea's entry into an affective society and the global economy. In regard to the livestock certification system, the value of certified livestock products was evaluated, and ways to improve an antibiotic-free certification system, over which there is a recent social controversy, were presented. With regard to Equestrian service, consumers' preference for the attributes of the service was analyzed. A study on the "value assessment of certified livestock products" aimed to provide useful information for livestock farms' differentiation strategies, distributors' marketing strategies, and the direction for operating the government's certification systems. For this purpose, eggs were selected as a target for analysis, and a hedonic price analysis was conducted by surveying various attributes including prices and certifications of eggs displayed in stores. According to the results of the value assessment of livestock certification, the highest marginal implicit price was that of an organic certified egg, KRW 225, followed by KRW 100 for a fertile egg sold without any certification, KRW 58 for an animal welfare certified egg, KRW 37 for an antibiotic-free certified egg, and KRW 18 for an environment-friendly livestock farm certified egg. Nonetheless, the value of HACCP certified eggs was underappreciated in the consumer market. The analysis results show that two or more certifications for livestock products, except for the addition of HACCP certification, additionally raise egg prices. Prices increase by KRW 22 per egg if environment-friendly livestock farm certification is added to HACCP and antibiotic-free certifications; by KRW 64 if animal welfare certification is added to HACCP and antibiotic-free certifications; and KRW 114 if animal welfare certification is added to HACCP and organic certifications. A study on the "improvement of an antibiotic-free certification system" examined surveys on consumers and certified farms and overseas cases, and presented alternatives to resolve the social controversy about antibiotic-free certification. The social controversy is that it is inappropriate to use the term "antibiotic-free" because consumers can misunderstand "antibiotic-free livestock products" although antibiotic-free certified farms can also use antibiotics. There is a gap between antibiotic-free certified farms' animal raising methods and consumers' perception of antibiotic-free livestock products. According to the consumer survey, about 66% of consumers recognized "antibiotic-free livestock products" as livestock products produced without antibiotics. Nevertheless, certified farms used antibiotics in periods with weak immunity (in youth, after delivery, etc.) although antibiotic use decreased compared to before certification. Foreign countries each have different standards for recognizing livestock products that used antibiotics as certified products. The EU recognizes products whose number of antibiotic use exceeds a certain level as organic certified products after the conversion period. In the U.S., however, products that used antibiotics cannot be sold as organic certified or NE3 program certified products. The following three improvement alternatives were suggested to resolve the social controversy over antibiotic-free certification by comprehensively examining the surveys on consumers and certified farms and the foreign cases: 1) recognizing products that used antibiotics as antibiotic-free livestock products if the conversion period is observed; 2) not recognizing products that used antibiotics as antibiotic-free livestock products; and 3) changing the name "antibiotic-free." As a result of assessing the priority of the three alternatives by applying the AHP technique, experts rated the second plan most highly. If the second scheme is applied to improve the certification system, it may be difficult to produce antibiotic-free livestock products from some species. Given certified farms' rearing conditions, it is needed to consider exceptional permission to use antibiotics in the following periods: castration, tail docking, the dry period therapy, after the delivery of a baby, etc. Even if these cases are recognized as exceptions, enough consumer promotion should follow. A study on the "analysis of consumers' preference for equestrian attributes" aimed at providing information in order to seek measures to promote riding and enhance regular riders' satisfaction. Choice experiments were applied to identify consumers' preference for equestrian attributes and measure marginal willingness to pay. Policy implications to boost riding were drawn from the analysis results. It was analyzed that regular riders' satisfaction increased with the following factors: a bigger equestrian facility, better accessibility, indoor and outdoor riding services, and lower riding fees. Also, warmbloods were the most preferred type of horses. Even though riding fees were the most important attribute in riding activity, some respondents considered the type of horses or indoor riding as the most important attribute. The results of measuring consumers' marginal willingness to pay for riding attributes show that they are willing to pay an extra KRW 100,000 a month to use a large-scale equestrian facility rather than a small one and an extra KRW 150,000 a month for an equestrian facility with better accessibility. In addition, consumers were willing to pay an extra KRW 270,000 to ride a warmblood compared to a Halla horse. The marginal willingness to pay for outdoor riding was KRW 310,000 and that for indoor riding was KRW 390,000. To raise regular riders' satisfaction, it is necessary to increase large-scale equestrian centers near big cities in consideration of accessibility and the size of a riding facility and to expand the supply of the most preferred warmbloods. Also, it is needed to provide outdoor riding programs and indoor riding services given Korea's climate conditions. Rural equestrian facilities in farming and fishing villages need outdoor riding programs, a riding hall, and the linkage with rural tourism because they may have difficulties in securing regular riders as clients. The differences in the respondents' preference for riding attributes were identified through a latent class model, and they were classified into six groups with similar preferences. Each group differed in income levels, gender, and membership types. Because consumers prefer diverse riding attributes, operators of equestrian facilities should identify their members' features and preferences and provide customized riding services.
