It has been only in the last few years that China rapidly emerged as World’s Top 3 contents markets. China was a new opportunity for domestic broadcasting companies and contents producers which had been suffering from declining sales and financial difficulty. Dreaming of the second renaissance of “My Love from the Star” and “Descendants of the Sun”, many domestic dramas are being produced targeting the Chinese market and producers depending on the Chinese capital are increasing, however, they encounter the problems of strict regulations of the Chinese government. It is because China never fails to enact new regulatory policies by reason of “protection of domestic cultural industry” whenever our country’s contents bring “fever” to China in order to put the brakes on the entry of Korean contents. Hence, this study aimed to inquire seek the strategy plan enabling successful entry of Korean contents into the Chinese contents market in spite of China’s regulatory policies. Through literature analysis, this study inquired into the changes of entry form of Korean contents into China due to the regulations as well as the latest trends of Chinese market. For the purpose of this study, an in-depth interview was carried out oriented to 14 working-level people from home and abroad so as to fine solutions regarding the expansion strategy for the Chinese market. According to the research results, it was possible to know that Korean contents has expanded export path from drama sale of satellite channel towards entertainment-based export and online market according to China’s regulatory policies. In terms of form, it was going through evolving form from direct sale of complete program towards format export and sale of original works, as well as today’s simultaneous broadcasting form in both countries through Korea-China joint production and pre-production. The greatest issue of today’s Chinese contents market consists in the growth of online market. The competition among large-scale platforms became fierce to such an extent as to be called “the Warring States period of online business”. It worked as a new breakthrough in Korean contents industry substituting the barrier of satellite TV channels blocked by severe regulations in which the entry of Korean contents seemed almost impossible. By the rapid growth of online market, new trends emerged in Chinese broadcasting market. Instead of Korean format-based contents of Korean productions, there is a growing number of contents produced by their own. In addition, the market with prevalent illegal downloading is now transforming into a market based on paid subscription system. Since the implementation of paid subscription system in 2015, it is analyzed that this paid subscription system is in rapid progress in a year enough to be positioned as a major source of income of online platforms. Experts paid attention to this rapid change of market from illegal downloading tendency to the paid subscription system, and predicted that the very triggering moment of cultural consumption would be the right time in which Korean contents hold a dominant position in the Chinese market. In accordance with these trends, it is estimated that the future path of entry of Korean contents should overcome the boundary of dramas and entertainment programs, and the market will have strategy plans for contents development in terms of documentaries, sports and music aiming at taste and preference of users based on paid subscription system. Moreover, it will be required to secure IP and pay attention to phenomenon of “Internet Star (网红)” as a core strategy plan regarding the future expansion into the Chinese market. The explosive increase of internet users accelerates competition for securing China’s unique autonomous IP such as web fictions and there is a prospect of China’s intention of reaching even Korean IP. Moreover, it is expected that good online platform alternatives of broadcasting companies and producers requiring the development of new profit model can be achieved if contents development related to the phenomenon of “Internet Star” stimulating the spending power can be made through BJ and SNS Stars who made a meteoric rise along with the progress of one-person media.
