In this study, upgrading and stabilization of pyrolysis bio-oil were carried out in various method. Firstly, the bio-oil upgrading process was carried out using a solvent (10 wt% methanol) and 2 kinds of catalyst (5 wt% WO3/ZrO2 and Amberlyst). For WO3/ZrO2, the decrease degrees of viscosity and TAN were highest when XZO 2056 was calcined at 900 ℃. Also bio-oil extraction using ether was performed to prevent phase separation and solid formation. Also, water content could be reduced. Maximum 70% of viscosity and 49% of TAN of bio-oil were reduced using Amberlyst 36. Compositional analysis for volatiles fraction of upgraded bio-oil showed that acids and aldehydes were efficiently converted during the upgrading process. Second catalytic reforming method was catalytic pyrolysis using lab scale fixed bed reactor to upgrade low quality of bio-oil. Cork oak was used as biomass, and metal oxide materials, such as ceria, zirconia, and ceria-zirconia were applied as catalysts for the experiment. At the reaction temperature of 500 ℃, liquid product yield was highest Most of acetic was converted to ketones by ketonization over zirconia. The creation of high value compound such as toluene, ethyl-benzene, xylene, and indene also stand for effective upgrading of bio-oil. For creation of high value product, and make up for short using term of bio-oil, catalytic co-pyrolysis using micro reactor was carried out for last catalytic reforming method. Mixture of cork oak and distilled residue of bio-oil from cork oak was pyrolyzed with HZSM-5. Yield of aromatic compounds was highest with HZSM-5(30) (maximum 4.39 wt%) at the 500 ℃ reaction temperature. Synergy effect on aromatic compounds was also shown at 600 ℃ and 700 ℃. Especially largest yield (5 wt%) of aromatic compounds including benzene, toluene, indene, and naphthalene was obtained at 600 ℃. On the other hand, coke yield was lowest (5.7 wt%) at 700 ℃. In addition, synergy effect on coke decrease was shown at all temperature ranges. Consequentially, distilled residue is suitable mixture for biomass which increases yield of aromatic compounds and decreases yield of coke.
