The aim of this study is to understand health literacy and health behaviors of adolescents and to examine the relations of these variables. Further, the study, through the improvement of health literacy, places its target on laying the foundation for a better health promotion behavior. The research designs of this study are to identify the correlation between health literacy and health promotion behaviors. Against the backdrop, this study has targeted on the undergraduates in the 3rd grade of a junior middle school in G province. The 212 students has voluntarily agreed to participate in the activities such as sitting in on the orientation of this study and filling out the questionnaire regarding health literacy and health promotion behaviors. With the use of SPSS/WIN 21.0 program, the data have been collected based on descriptive statistics quantity, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows : 1. The subjects, on average, has gained 37.18±17.74 and 11.86±2.77 scores on 'linguistic' and 'functional' health literacy, respectively. Also, their mean scores were 2.953±0.344 regarding the characteristics of their whole health promotion behaviors. 2. There have been significant correlations between 'linguistic'(r=.405, p<.01) and 'functional'(r=.168, p<.01) health literacy and health promotion behaviors. 3. Based on general characteristics, the economical status has resulted in a significant difference in linguistic health literacy.(F=8.698, p=0.000). School achievements have produced a significantly different result in functional health literacy with regard to general characteristics. As for generally characterized health promotion behaviors, there has been a significantly different outcome in school achievements (F=5.758, p=0.004), economic status (F=3.199, p=0.043), and subjective health status (F=7.042, p=0.001). 4. In general characteristics, the influencing factors for the subjects' health promotion behaviors are school achievements 1.6%, subjective health status 2.5%, and linguistic health literacy 16%. Each percentage means each factor's scores (F=11.125, p=.001). From the results of this study, we have come to the conclusion that adolescents' health literacy has an established connection with their health promotion behaviors and that the improvement of their health literacy exercises a significant influence on the development of their health promotion behaviors.
