The amount of cars with ADAS has been increasing, and the change of interaction between cars and drivers is caused according to the development of cars about particular driving elements. For this reason, technology acceptance study has been becoming important to see whether a driver could accept actively about transfer of driving control to a car. However, a study in the past did not cover every single step of automation of autonomous vehicle. Also a study in the past has limitation in which this study was conducted through survey based on imagination.
Thus, this study is conducted to see the range of driver’s acceptance using every automation step of autonomous vehicle and driving simulation based on user’s experience. Particularly, the first purpose of this study is to compose a model with driver’s technology acceptance when driving autonomous vehicle and to deduct elements that influence on BI through driver’s experience evaluation by using driving simulators. The second purpose is to deduct the difference and change of UX/UA score of each element. Specifically, this study will examine the change and difference of UX/UA score based on each step of autonomous vehicle, additionally, this study will study the difference in innovativeness, using status, and gender.
This study suggests research model through literature search and conducts list of measurement for modification. Also this study conducts scenario composition and representative facility according to autonomous vehicle four steps in order to evaluate user’s experience base. It also evaluates capacity by using driving simulator with test subject group of 68.
The result of first purpose is conducted with several elements that influence on intent to use (BI), safety which is directly related to life, perceived safe with anxiety-associated(PS), anxiety (AX), trust (T), and product expectation (PE), social influence (SI), and affective satisfaction (AS). The result of second purpose shows the change and difference based on autonomous vehicle steps increase to automation second step and decrease at third step except for anxiety (AX), which has inverse (-) relationship with BI. Especially, automation third step, which is auto driving section causes increasing anxiety about operating control when entering and exiting at the process of transfer and is perceived as immature step before operating autonomous driving. The main factor of score reduction is anxiety that occurs while counteracting against emergency situation automatically. In addition, a group with past experience has higher UX/UA score than a group with no past experience, and a group with high capacity has higher UX/UA score than a group with low capacity. Male has higher UX/UA score which has a relation with safety element than female does. These results prove that future system with more mature and widespread system will eventually have higher capacity than now.
The significance of this study is first, to provide a scenario based on autonomous driving vehicle step which was ambiguous in the past, and to suggest a model with driver’s capacity through driving simulator based on user’s experience evaluation that verifies a driver’s capacity of autonomous vehicle can from the foundation of capacity research in the future. Secondly, this study conducts the change and difference of UX/UA scores in accordance with autonomous vehicle steps, usage experience, gender, and innovativeness and becomes helpful to develop autonomous vehicle industry by realizing characteristics of driver’s capacity. Synthetically, this study can be used as a medium to prove validity of the function by business that provides autonomous vehicle, ADAS. Also, this study will be helpful to improve driver’s safety and convenience through building technology and to prevent problems for driver’s acceptance.
The critical point of this study is a limitation of test subject number. Because the test subject group of this study was current 20-30 age people who will use autonomous vehicle third and fourth steps actively, the future study will require comprehensive test subject targeting as a supplementary research. Secondly, this study is about autonomous vehicle driving function among ADAS technologies. Autonomous vehicle has not only driving but also parking and diverse functions so that this study will be necessary additional capacity by widening the range.
