Chapter 2: Impressionism of de-representation for exact understanding of post-impressionism (although it is different from post-impressionism) and the formation, background, significance and characteristics of post-impressionism that became the foundation of modernism paintings in the beginning of the century.
Chapter 3: Specific analysis on the methodological characteristics of the art worlds of Gogh, Gauguin and Cezanne; and appreciation and analysis of their arts for further understanding.
Moreover, for more clear understanding of Expressionism, Fauvism and Cubism paintings in the history of modernist art in the beginning of the century, 3 artists who had significant influence on the flow were dealt with.
In the following chapter 4, characteristics of modernism art in the beginning of the century along with 3 post-impressionism artists’ influence are explored; that is, Gogh’s influence on expressionism is investigated through Munch and Kirchner; Gauguin’s influence on Fauvism through Matisse and Vlaminck; and Cezanne’s influence on Cubism through Picasso and Braque. The chapter analyzes their influence and how they can be reinterpreted and applied. In the last part, Chapter 5 concludes the main idea of the study in general.
