This research aims to verify the effects of clinical art therapy on reducing the anger and stress of school violence victim adolescents and to provide basic data on the effectiveness of art therapy. The subjects of this research were 20 girl students aged 13 from D junior high school in Gwangju Metropolitan City who had experienced school violence. These students were divided into two groups; experimental group with 10 students and control group with 10 students. The clinical art therapy program was conducted on the experimental group from December 10, 2014 to February 26, 2015. Each session was held for 60-minutes once a week for 12 weeks for a total of 12 sessions. For the research tools, the anger scale and the self-esteem scale were used and the stress index was verified by conducting the salivary cortisol. Also, to examine the changes appeared in the pictures, the house-tree-person test, which is HTP picture diagnosis test, was conducted to perform the qualitative analysis of the pictures, and through group art therapy, the individuals’ characteristics, and the groups’ degree of participation and attitude changes were analyzed. The results of this research are as follows. First, clinical art therapy was effective in reducing the anger of the experimental group which participated in the therapy program. Second, the results of the analysis of the effectiveness in reducing the stress of the experimental group which participated in the therapy program showed that the stress of the experimental group, on which clinical art therapy was conducted, was reduced. Third, the results of the analysis of the effectiveness in the enhancement of the self-esteem of the experimental group which participated in the therapy program showed that clinical art therapy was effective in the enhancement of self-esteem of the experimental group on which clinical art therapy was conducted. Fourth, the house-tree-person test, which is HTP picture diagnosis test, and clinical art therapy activities brought about significantly positive, qualitative changes. Based on the above-mentioned results of this research, it was found that clinical art therapy had positive effects on reducing anger and stress of the school violence victim adolescents and enhancing their self-esteem. Accordingly, this implies that clinical art therapy can be applied effectively to the treatment of school violence victim adolescents.
