A Study on Perception and Use of Aromatherapy Essential Oil Depending on Aromatherapy Side Effects Experience of Skin Care Practitioners원문보기

This study analyzed the perception and use of aroma essential oils according to experience of aromatherapy side effects by using 347 surveys for skin care practitioners who use aromatherapy in a skin care center. As a result, first, knowledge of aroma essential oils by skin care practitioners who did not experience aromatherapy side effects was higher (p<.05). Second, the differences in the use of aromatherapy according to the experience of aromatherapy side effects, the results of the number of aromatherapy treatments, the percentage of aromatherapy essential oils in total management, the reasons for choosing the aromatherapy essential oils currently used, and differences in the types of essential oils showed significant difference. Third, as a result of examining the differences in the degree of practice of the aromatherapy safety guidelines, it was found that mask usagewas higher in skin care practitioners who experienced the side effects of aromatherapy (p<.05) but in other areas of safety guidelines, it was not significant witha significance level of 5%. Fourth, the result of differences in the suggestions for effective aromatherapy showed that there was a significant difference in the need for professional education related to aroma according to the experience of aroma therapy side effects, but there was no difference in the type and process of aroma education.Skin care practitioners responded thatthe biggest problems of using aroma essential oils in skin care rooms were 'lack of knowledge in aroma essential oils' and that 'education on efficacy of essential oils' was needed. In this study, skin care practitioners who have not experienced any side effects have a high awareness of aroma essential oils. It was found that skin care practitioners who have not experienced the side effects of aromatherapy use it 'daily' except for those who don’t use it often. This implies that among skin care practitioners who did not experience side effects, they include professionals who use aroma essential oils among skin care practitioners who do not use aroma essential oils often, and that proper use and practice based on their professional knowledge is more important. At this point in the expansion of the aromatherapy market, it seems that minimizing the side effects can be achieved by applying the correct usage and guidelines of aroma essential oils, and if skin care practitioners become the right practitioners through the opportunity to participate in reliable professional education, aromatherapy which is used forskin health care will be able to make a bigger contribution in the future as an effective beauty and health therapy.
