A Study on Evaluation of Radiological Characteristics in the Effect of Zinc Acetate Injection to Reactor Coolant System During Overhaul Maintenance원문보기

In this study, the radiological effects of Zinc injection on the reactor coolant primary system were evaluated and the expected cost-benefit was quantified. Dose evaluation results were reduced by 31.7% for one cycle and 44.4% for two cycles compared to before zinc injection. It was also confirmed that the dose reduction effect can be obtained continuously throughout the system through the periodic measurement results before and after zinc injection. In addition, when the dose reduction rate of 8 items of unit work was quantified, the cost was reduced to approximately 625,000 thousand won/year. On the other hand, it was confirmed that the amount of waste (spent resin, filter) increases due to radioactive corrosion products caused by zinc injection. Further studies are necessary because of various variables such as dissolved gas, material sensitivity, size of stress, pH control, boric acid control, and operation procedure of nuclear power plant, which affect the formation and migration of corrosion products. It is expected that this technology can be applied to high-dose pipeline decontamination during nuclear decommissioning and decontamination of large-scale metal radioactive waste. This is expected to contribute to dose reduction, exposure management of radiation workers, and improvement of radiation safety management.
