관광관련 전공 대학생의 전공선택동기에 따라 진로신화가 진로결정수준에 미치는 영향 : 학교 지원의 조절효과 The Effect of Career Myths on Career Decision Level depending on Major Selection Motivation of College Student Majoring in Hospitality : Control Effect of School Support원문보기

The employed people among 330,000 college graduates for 4-year system in 2016 numbered more than 150,000 people, amounting to about 45.2%. For the major-profession matching level for determination of agreement status between major and profession, medicine affiliation is the highest at 75.2%. and arts & physical eduction affiliation is the lowest at 20.1%, while sociology affiliation, education affiliation, engineering affiliation were shown to have the matching of about 50%. Also, the employment ratio (including the unemployed) within 18 months after graduation among college graduates from 4-year system as of September, 2015 is 84.3%, of which the sociology affiliation including tourism science is 73.7%, and has been surveyed to be about middle ranking among all affiliations. However, the employment ratio of the departments related to hospitality industry such as tourism management-related departments, hotel-related departments, stewardess-related departments, and catering/ cooking-related departments, etc. is only 64.5%, of which only 37.6% of employed people is reported to have a profession in agreement with the major. Thus, efforts are needed to identify and solve the problems concerning what the causes are concerning the low matching level between major & profession for the college graduates of tourism major compared with the ratio for the college graduates of sociology affiliation to have professions related to their majors. The career-decision process of college students begins with self evaluation for admission, and the desired profession becomes specified through the process of adaptation to the department. In the core of all these processes, sufficient support such as family, school, information, and career consultation should constitute foundation. Career preparation behavior and career determination are realized accordingly. If any of these processes fails to be achieved, confusion will be experienced throughout the career determination process. Social reality such as unemployment problems and job competition also exerts a large influence on the college students' employment preparation. Namely, the problems related to career may be considered to originate from not only personal problems such as motivations for major selection but also combined environments such as attitudes toward career deeply rooted in family of social career reality, and fixed notion on career, individual's learning experience, etc. Accordingly, in the present study, it has been considered what effects the career myths has on the career decision level for the college students with tourism-related majors and what level of controlling effects the school support has in this effect relationship, and how such effect relationships are varied according to the motivation for major selection(intrinsic motivation, short-term extrinsic motivation. long-term extrinsic motivation). For this purpose, the relationship among the motivation for major selection and career myths, school support, career-decision level was reviewed first. and types of the career myths were classified secondly, and it was checked how the career-decision level was varied accordingly. Thirdly, it was considered how the school support controls the effects of career myths on the career-decision level, and fourthly, it was considered by typifying the college students' motivation for major selection how the effects among career myths, career-decision level, and school support according to each type. Lastly, college students' characteristics of career development were considered by verification of effect relationships of individual variables, and implications were presented to help solution of students' career-related problems in the university. To achieve such study objectives, a self-entered type of questionnaire survey was conducted for the subject of college students with majors related to tourism, hotel, aviation service, catering & cooking in 4-year universities located in Seoul/Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungcheong, Gyeongsang, Gwangju/Jeolla circle. From October 11 to October 27, 2017, a total of 530 copies of questionnaires were distributed of which 500 copies were recovered, and 405 copies of questionnaires were used for final analysis, excluding 90 copies of unfaithfully responded questionnaires. For the analysis, SPSS 18.0 as a statistical package program most universally used on social science areas was used. To consider demographic characteristics of the sample, frequency analysis was employed, reliability test through Cronbach's α coefficient, etc. was conducted to identify inner consistency per each measuring tool for each survey, and validity of constituent concept for the measurement scale related to the present study was verified by conducting an exploratory factor analysis. In addition, by conducting multiple regression analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted to verify effect relationships of constituent factors, and the following analysis results have been derived. First, the hypothesis 1 “Career myths will affect the career-decision level" was partly adopted. Specifically considering, the selection myths was shown to have a positive(+) effect on insufficiency of self-clarity, and the self-respect myths a positive(+) effect on the incongruity between self and profession. Although test myths and self-respect myths have a positive(+) effect on the incongruity of profession selection, selection myths have a negative(-) effect, while the self-respect myths were analyzed to have a positive(+) effect on indecisiveness. Secondly, the hypothesis 2 “School support will have a control effect in the relationship between career myths and career-decision level” was partly adopted. According to specific consideration, in the relationship of incongruity between test myths as well as selection myths and insufficiency of self-clarity as well as the relationship of incongruity between self and profession, the support of professors and operation team has been shown to have a control effect, while the support of professors and operation team was shown to have a control effect in the relationship between test myths and indecisiveness. In addition, the support of fellow students was analyzed to have a control effect in the relationship between selection myths and insufficiency of self-clarity. Lastly, the hypothesis 3 “Depending on the motivation of major selection, the effects f career myths on career-decision level and control effects of school support will be varied.” was partly adopted. Specifically considering, test myths and self-respect myths in the group with high intrinsic motivation and with high long-term extrinsic motivation were shown to have a positive(+) effect on career-decision level while only self-respect myths was shown to have a positive(+) effect on the career-decision level in the group with short-term extrinsic motivation. In addition, in the group with high intrinsic motivation, the support of professors and operation team was shown to have a control effect in the influence of test myths on career-decision level, while both the support of professors and operation group and the support of fellow students were shown to have a control effect in the influence of test myths on career-decision level in the group with high long-term extrinsic motivation. Through such study results, the following implications and future study measures were presented and utilization thereof as data for follow-up studies has been proposed. First, population of the present study was set as the college students with tourism-related majors. However, the domains of majors currently related to tourism are being gradually broadened. Therefore, in the future studies, the students of 2-year and 3-year systems should also be included in the study subject, even the departments related to overall tourism industry need to be included through a comprehensive definition for tourism-related majors. Secondly, the present study has transversally considered college students' career problems. Since the career problems are the whole-life project realized throughout a life, it is considered that comprehensive and insightful results should be derived by realizing longitudinal studies where study groups are observed and studied over a long time. Consequently, derivation of the career education and the solution measures suitable for each life period is considered necessary. Thirdly, career-related problems cannot be solved only by the efforts in the limited environment of a school. Since the career-related problems experienced by students are the problems derived in the overall domain of society including family, the efforts to derive practical and solvable implications should be made by surveying of all environments experienced by students and identifying problems occurring in each environment in the future. Fourthly, in the present study, the levels of support were identified only by measuring the extents recognized by students for the school support. However, each university is making multi-faceted efforts to solve students' career-related problems through diversified student support policies. Therefore, studies should be conducted on how students' careers are affected based on the objective data of school support by surveying school support policies and specific implementation methods. Lastly, in the present study, only the career-decision levels recognized by students were identified, and no study was made concerning how the career determination would be actually affected after graduation. Therefore, multi-faceted studies should be conducted as to how the career selection is actually affected after graduation by motivation for major selection, career myths, and career-decision level. As the college students with tourism-related majors derive specific and hands-on implications for determination of their careers following graduation through this, it is expected to be able to provide practical help for students' career selection.
