다음으로, 본 연구는 소셜 미디어를 이용하고, 차별화를 중시하는 Y 세대의 명품 민주화 전략(democratization strategy of luxury goods or Generalization strategy of luxury goods)에 대한 시사점을 제공하였다.

Luxury goods are perceived as products exclusively used by wealthy people and elite social classes. Luxury goods, however, are being transformed into luxurious products that can be easily accessed by younger generations, younger consumers who value lifestyle and experience. This means that Generation Y is the growth and main driving force of the luxury market, the influential and purchasing power of the market, and luxury marketers should study the consumption value and consumption behavior patterns of luxury goods from the viewpoint of Generation Y. From this point of view, this study is to identify the relationship between perceived brand value (product value, quality, exclusivity, self-satisfaction, prominence, conspicuousness) and trust (cognitive and affective), and their effects on attachment and loyalty in the context of Generation Y. More specifically, this study examine how trust and attachment play mediating roles in the relationship between perceived brand value and loyalty. To accomplish the purpose of this study, the data were collected from 638 Generation Y who purchased luxury goods within 1 year and analyzed using frequency analysis, measurement model analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling with SPSS 22.0 and SmartPLS 3.0 statistical package program. The results and summaries are as follows. First, among perceived brand value, product value shows a positive effect on cognitive trust, but not on affective trust. Similarly, quality also shows a positive effect on cognitive trust, but not on affective trust. This result indicates that the higher the perceived product value and quality of the luxury brand that explain the utilitarian value, the higher the cognitive trust. Second, the perceived brand exclusivity shows a positive effect on both cognitive and affective trust. These results show that the higher the differentiation of luxury brands, the higher the cognitive and affective trust. Third, self-satisfaction, prominence, and conspicuousness have significant effects on both cognitive trust and affective trust. This result means that the owner does not increase trust by possessing luxury goods. Also, the reputation of a famous designer does not necessarily increase trust. On the other hand, the conspicuousness that attract people's attention do not seem to have a significant effect on trust, indicating that Generation Y is a reasonable consumer who places importance on price or performance. Fourth, cognitive trust has a significant positive effect on affective trust. This result implies that emotional and subjective affective trust is formed when luxury goods are rationally recognized by Generation Y. Fifth, cognitive and affective trust have positive influences on attachment. In addition, cognitive and affective trust and attachment have positive effects on loyalty. These results imply that the cognitive and affective trust formed by the brand values play an important role in building brand attachment and loyalty. The theoretical and practical implications of this study are as follows. First, this study measured the brand value of Generation Y by using the brand value scale developed in Korea rather than the value of luxury brand developed overseas. This study suggests a framework for the luxury marketers to understand the luxury consumption behavior of Generation Y and the other generation using consumption value theories such as symbolic self-completion theory, uncertainty reduction theory, self-discrepancy theory, social comparison theory and self-congruity theory. In addition, this study empirically tests the relationship between perceived brand value and cognitive and affective trust from the perspective of Generation Y. In other words, this study provides a framework to understand how Generation Y's perceived luxury brand values have an effect on trust and to understand how Generation Y's attachment and loyalty are formed based on trust. Next, this study presents Generation Y’s democratization strategy of luxury goods or generalization strategy of luxury goods, which uses social media and emphasizes differentiation. Finally, the limitations of this study and future research directions are presented.
