The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of group art therapy program on ego resilience of adolescents with emotional․ behavioral support needs, and to help adolescents to grow up healthily without emotional․behavioral disorder by improving ego resilience. To this end, this study organized every session into group art therapy based on therapeutic factors of group art therapy program and effectiveness of media on research subjects. This study selected 12 7th graders of B Middle School located in A-si as the subject of this study based on the selection standard of rating scale for students’ emotional·behavioral characteristics(AMPQ-Ⅲ) among the groups with emotional·behavioral support needs. 6 students were randomly placed in experimental group and control group and total 12 sessions of 90-minute group art therapy program were conducted on the experimental group twice a week. To verify the effectiveness of the program, this study conducted a quantitative analysis by carrying out the ego resilience test before and after the program on both the experimental group and control group. For data processing, this study verified the effectiveness through a non-parametric test, the Mann-Whitney’s U-test, using SPSS/WINProgram (version 18.0). To sum up, the results of this study are as follows. First, it was identified that group art therapy program makes a significant effect on improving ego resilience of adolescents with emotional․behavioral support needs. Meaning, it was identified that group art therapy program is effective on improving ego resilience of adolescents with emotional․ behavioral support needs than the control group. Secondly, it was identified that group art therapy program makes positive effect on positive thought, problem solving, intimate behavior, and emotional adjustment among subfactors of ego resilience. Meaning, it was identified that subfactors of ego resilience of the experimental group who participated in group art therapy program have improved significantly. This signifies that group art therapy program is effective on improving subfactors of ego resilience. According to the result, it can be considered that group art therapy program contributed to the improvement in ego resilience of adolescents with emotional․behavioral support needs. This signifies that group art therapy program helped adolescents to express their thoughts and emotions naturally, helped them to understand other people’s feelings, provided emotional stability, and helped positive interaction between group members. Also, it can be seen that the program served as a momentum that brought changes in positive thinking by showing their emotion and potential during the process of completing their works. Therefore, it was verified that group art therapy program is effective on improving ego resilience of adolescents with emotional․behavioral support needs, and it is considered that the results of this study can be used a data in school and in the counseling field.
