This study refers to the effects of group play therapy utilizing fairy tales on the self-efficacy of low-income children. The subjects of this study were in the 2th and 3th grade in elementary school children that are utilizing the P community child center of the D City and among them, the study included 16 children who were recommended as improvement of the self-efficacy required children by social worker and whose parents understood the purpose of this study and submitted the consent. Eight persons each were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. From March 12 to April 19, 2018, 60 minutes per session a total of 12 sessions of the group play therapy utilizing fairy tales were conducted twice a week to the experimental group. As a research tool, a self-efficacy scale (Jaeho, Kim, 2006) was used, which was revised and supplemented by Yikyung Hyun to fit the developmental level of lower grades of elementary school students. In data processing, an independent sample t-test was conducted to validate the homogeneity of experimental group and control group in the pre-test score of the self-efficacy and in order to verify the effectiveness of the program, the Repeated Measure ANOVA using the pre- and post-test score was proceeded for the each sub-factor and the whole ego-integrity of the experimental group and the control group. The results obtained in this study are as follows.: First, group play therapy utilizing fairy tales positively affects of the total self-efficacy of low-income children. Second, it has a positive influence of each sub-domain of the self-efficacy of low-income children. Therefore, the results of this study indicate that the group play therapy utilizing fairy tales affects on improvement of the self-efficacy of low-income children.
